🚀 CAN-BIND Multi-Modal Data Sets in Action at @SOBP 2025!
A huge shout-out to Dr. Eric Ruhé for leading a stellar symposium, with Dr. Peter Zhukovsky @peterzhukovsky, Dr. Matthan Caan, and the CAN-BIND platform leaders Dr. Faranak Farzan @faranakfarzan & Dr. Jane Foster @jfosterlab showcasing how integrated neuroimaging, EEG, gut microbiome, EMBARC & CAN-BIND datasets can help predict treatment outcomes in mental health care. 🧠✨
👏 Special thanks to Dr. Benicio Frey, the Director of CAN-BIND, for wrapping up the session with a compelling vision for the future of mental health care powered by multi-modal data research.
🔬 The CAN-BIND dataset is available to researchers through the Ontario Brain Institute @OntarioBrain.🧠

Hello colleagues,
I have just received my first NIMH funded R01 and am looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow. Please spread the word! Here is the link for details about our team and the position! https://t.co/iCX0Bmq0pU
Just launched the E2P Simulator - an interactive open-source tool that translates effect sizes into predictive utility 🧠
Check it out here: https://t.co/kfInGnZuF2
Many areas of research, such as biomedical, behavioral, educational, and sports sciences are studying individual differences in order to build predictive models to personalize treatment, learning, and training.
However, common research practices are hindering these efforts by overinterpreting effect sizes and by neglecting measurement reliability & outcome base rates.
E2P Simulator aims to address this conglomerate of issues. Similar to how G*Power helps researchers plan for statistical significance, E2P Simulator helps plan for practical significance.
Academic papers demonstrating its utility will be coming soon! In the meantime, you can find examples on how to use it on the "Get Started" page.
Feedback/suggestions are very welcome, more features are planned too 😉
We're entering a new era of #Alzheimers blood testing—fully automated platforms now deliver fast, accurate #pTau217 results for use in primary & secondary care.
Proud to share senior authorship and proud of this multi-centre European collaboration.

Important first steps in identifying robust, cross-trial biomarkers of depression treatment response
more below⬇️
1/2: Important new findings by @peterzhukovsky, a former postdoc in the lab and now faculty at @CAMHResearch, who identified a neural (rsfMRI) marker that predicted SSRI treatment.
After bootstrapping we show moderate cross-trial generalizability of models including the resting state fMRI marker (AUC in the range of 0.62-0.70 and balanced accuracy range of 63-71%), which is less than within-trial prediction performance, but an improvement vs clinical model

1/18: Well, after 23 years as faculty at Harvard and almost 15 years of amazing collaborations, collegiality and growth at McLean Hospital, today I officially start at @UCIrvine, where I will be the founding director of a new depression
#SOBP2025 is happening in Toronto this year!🇨🇦 Really excited to attend for the first time & present exciting work on the relationships between functional connectivity x cognition in collaboration with @peterzhukovsky 🙌🏻
If you’re also attending #SOBP2025, let’s connect!
An increase in amygdala reactivity was associated with risk of relapse after antidepressant discontinuation and may represent a functional neuroimaging marker that could inform clinical decisions around antidepressant discontinuation. https://t.co/W0vHIuPhIO
A new study by Drs. @peterzhukovsky@DanielFelsky and @AVoineskos is shedding light on the importance of treating risk factors – such as depression and cardiovascular disease – to help minimize the risk of cognitive disorders later in life.
