Surface Energy fluxes are difficult to measure, particularly in developing tropical cities due to resource constraints. In our latest publication, we adapted and robustly evaluated a simple land surface model( Surface Urban Energy and Water Balance
Scheme) yo assess the impact of urban landscape heterogeneity on surface energy fluxes . As expected, high density urban areas exhibit large sensible and storage heat fluxes, whereas evaporative fluxes correspond to suburban and vegetated areas.

Proud of this work presented by my PhD student @phemiobe8 evaluating UCMs in WRF for UHI and heat stress analysis over Lagos Nigeria #ICUC11Sydney . We now have a better understanding of heat stress pattern and dynamics of the city.
