Heute habe ich mit meiner Schwester (Pflegegrad 4) über die geplante Pflegereform von Ministerin Warken gesprochen.
Als ich ihr erklärt habe, was da auf uns zukommen könnte, brach bei ihr etwas.
Am Ende fragte sie mit zitternder Stimme: „Aber du steckst mich jetzt nicht ins Heim, oder?“
Ich hatte Tränen in den Augen. Diesen Satz werde ich nie vergessen. 😔
4,9 Millionen Menschen werden in Deutschland zu Hause von Angehörigen gepflegt. Aus Liebe. Weil Pflegeheime voll sind und Pflegedienste fehlen. Wir waschen, füttern, trösten, sind 24/7 im Einsatz – 365 Tage im Jahr.
Und was macht diese Regierung? Sie macht genau diesen letzten großen Baustein kaputt:

Verhinderungspflege wird gestrichen (nur noch über Pflegedienst – auf dem Dorf ein Witz)

Rentenbeiträge für pflegende Angehörige um 30 % gekürzt

Weitere Leistungen werden zusammengestrichen

Das ist kein Sparen mehr. Das ist Verrat an den Schwächsten und denen, die sie lieben.
Meine Schwester hat Angst. Und ich auch. Weil ich nicht weiß, wie lange ich das noch schaffen kann – und was dann mit ihr passiert.

Ich habe die letzten Jahre der DDR noch selbst erlebt. Alt genug, um zu merken, worüber Erwachsene nur leise gesprochen haben. Welche Themen man besser nicht angesprochen hat. Dass in den Nachrichten oft etwas anderes erzählt wurde als das, was Menschen im Alltag wirklich erlebt haben. In der Schule gab es klare Vorgaben. Und sobald es um Politik ging, wurden viele plötzlich vorsichtig.

Nach der Wiedervereinigung habe ich in der BRD zum ersten Mal erlebt, was Freiheit wirklich bedeutet. Frei reden. Frei wählen. Widersprechen dürfen. Ohne Angst.

Vielleicht höre ich deshalb heute genauer hin, wenn die Alternative für Deutschland von Indoktrination spricht, aber selbst tief in Bildung, Gesellschaft und unser Denken eingreifen will. Wenn die NATO infrage gestellt wird, Nähe zu Russland gesucht wird und unsere westliche Bindung klein geredet wird.

Und ganz ehrlich, ich verstehe bis heute nicht, wie Menschen, die die DDR selbst erlebt haben, sich wieder nach solchen Denkmustern sehnen können. Wer weiß, wie sich fehlende Freiheit anfühlt, sollte wissen, was wir heute zu verlieren haben.

The dryer lint advice you see all over Pinterest is actively bad for birds.

It sounds nice, save the lint, leave it in the yard, watch the birds use it for nests.

But Audubon, US Fish & Wildlife, the Cornell Lab, and most wildlife rehabbers all advise against it now, and the reasons add up fast.

Lint loses its structure when it gets wet. A nest lined with dryer lint holds up fine in dry weather, but the first heavy rain collapses the whole nest.

Eggs and chicks fall through the nest and likely don't survive.

Lint also carries with it the chemical signature of your laundry. Detergent residue, fabric softener, dryer sheet compounds, fragrance oils, and dye all end up concentrated in the fibers you're pulling out of the trap.

Even "free and clear" detergents leave trace chemicals that are fine on adult human skin but rough on a 4-gram baby bird.

Lint is mostly microplastic. Most modern clothing is polyester, nylon, acrylic, or some blend. The lint trap collects shredded synthetic fibers. Lining a nest with that is lining a nest with plastic.

Sadly, this folksy bird advice from a decade ago hasn't aged well. The new advice is closer to: provide nothing artificial, and let the natural materials in your yard do the work.
