Surprise visit to No10 today! ๐ฌ๐ง
Cracking way to finish the International Communications course this week ๐
Huge thanks to the superb organisers and media experts for making this happen โ
@theJeremyVine@JohnNicholRAF Amazing, v keen to read Johnโs book. If I remember things right, my late granddad (RAF pilot) was involved in the early ejector seat test programme and had to have several vertebrae removed later in life
#RIHLive@holland_tom are you still enjoying the Patrick OโBrien books and do you see yourself as Maturin, Aubrey or Killick? And whatโs your favourite type of knot?
Highly recommend this piece by @soundboy on the challenges around AI development, the diverse risk perceptions and arguments re. what to do about it. Even so left me with sense that these questions are becoming more urgent as progress exponentializes:

Agreement reached! โ
After 3 weeks, a few late nights and plenty of compromise by all sides, we got there in the end: agreeing a way forward to strengthen the Biological Weapons Convention ๐บ๐ณ.
Highlight for me was being part of this sterling ๐ฌ๐ง team. What a super lot.
Talks in Geneva ๐ฌ๐ง๐บ๐ณ on finding ways to strengthen the Biological Weapons Convention passed the halfway point yesterday.
Weโve heard many proposals and ideas. Our task now is clear: to negotiate them into a package that everyone can sign up to. Plenty of work ahead.
As the world gathers to review the Biological Weapons Convention, I call on leaders to ensure that science & technology are used for the benefit of humanity.
Strengthening this disarmament treaty - with the financial and human resources it needs - is more important than ever.
From The Hague to Geneva, this important week for arms control continues. Joining @AidanLiddle and team at #BWCRevCon today to deliver ๐ฌ๐ง national statement, reaffirming our strong support for international efforts to maintain prohibition of biological weapons
.@StephenLillieUK gives the UK general statement to open Day 2 of #BWCRevCon. Urged States Parties to grasp the opportunity of the Experts Working Group proposal to strengthen the Convention, boost the ISU, and create an S&T review mechanism.
The UN Security Council just rejected ๐ท๐บโs draft resolution spreading bioweapons-related disinformation about ๐บ๐ธ and ๐บ๐ฆ. Good. Enough time wasted. Now back to addressing the real issue: Russiaโs continued brutal aggression against #Ukraine
Russia has spread disinformation, including wild and inconsistent claims involving biological weapons, to try to justify its aggression against Ukraine.
Read our Biological Weapons Convention statement, de-bunking these claims โ
See our statement at the BTWC Article 5 meeting this week. ๐
๐ท๐บ disinformation duly debunked.
๐ฌ๐ง stands for truth and peaceful biological cooperation under Article 10 - and as always, with ๐บ๐ธ and ๐บ๐ฆ
Day 3 of the #1972BWC Article V consultative meeting, set aside for statements by other delegations. ๐ฌ๐ง highlighted Russiaโs track record of bioweapons disinformation. Normal ๐บ๐ฆ-๐บ๐ธ Article X cooperation is being demonised - which is dangerous for the Convention.
