I’ve been reading the code bases of ~ 2-3 different startups since April.

And man. So much agility is lost in premature optimization. So much agility is lost in a culture of low urgency. So much agility is lost in a lack of clarity.

I think anyone who loves the shape and craft of code should consult and see what’s out there.

People can be moving way faster with way less code.

Why leave room for flexibility now. When you can just delete it rewrite it faster.

People are trying to throw in the wheel without centering the clay.

I think people think of writing software like a clock. You can take a gear out and clean it up and put it back in.

But it’s more like doing pottery or building a house.
