🇺🇲 🇩🇰 🇬🇱 Trump announced today on Truth Social that the US has secured permanent control over security and "all other needs" in Greenland, at no cost, calling it an "Infinite Life" agreement with no end date and promising an immediate buildup of US military presence on the island. He called it "a dream come true" and "historic."
Rutte, NATO's own secretary general, used nearly identical language back in January describing this same framework while it was still being negotiated, "an infinite deal, a deal forever." Trump's announcement today isn't new territory, it's the same proposal resurfacing eight months later with a label attached.
The deeper problem is what CNN's Kaitlan Collins caught in January and what still applies now: when asked directly whether this meets his actual demand, ownership of Greenland, Trump paused, deflected, and fell back on "it's a long-term deal... it's infinite."
He never answered the ownership question because the agreement he's describing was never about acquiring the island. It's an update to the 1951 Greenland Defense Agreement, which already granted the US the right to "construct, install, maintain and operate" military facilities there, already allowed a permanent US presence with Danish and Greenlandic consent, and already functioned, in the words of a Danish Institute for International Studies researcher, as an agreement so open "the US would be able to achieve almost any security goal you can imagine" under it.
"At no cost" isn't new either. The 1951 framework never charged the US for basing rights. What's actually shifted since January is procedural, not territorial: Denmark's parliament voted 94-11 to expand US access to Danish soil itself, and Rasmussen, Denmark's foreign minister, built in an explicit trigger, Denmark can terminate the whole arrangement if Washington ever tries to annex Greenland outright. That clause is the tell. Copenhagen negotiated this specifically to survive Trump's rhetoric without conceding the sovereignty question he keeps implying is settled.
Calling an expanded version of a 75-year-old defense pact "a dream come true" does real political work, it lets Trump claim a historic win on Greenland without ever forcing Denmark into the confrontation actual annexation would require. The territorial ambition gets the headline. The treaty being signed is the same one that's existed since Truman.
Europe's 30 overseas territories—from Greenland to Diego Garcia—are suddenly geopolitical hotspots.
@MarcPierini1 breaks down why defending them isn't optional for Europe. It's essential.

Introducing Workers: unlimited AI employees that run your company...
And we've just made $1M ARR in a couple of days.
Most knowledge jobs shouldn't exist.
Not because the work isn't valuable.
Because the way we execute it is absurd.
Millions of people spend their days:
- Answering emails
- Following up
- Updating CRM
- Coordinating meetings
- Moving information between systems
There is no expertise here. That's workflow..
Workers are AI employees that can perform work across your organization like a human teammate.
The line between software and labor just disappeared.

Did anyone realize what just happened here?
This is one of the strangest things happening in tech right now.
Scientists put 200,000 human brain cells on a chip and taught them to play Doom.
Yes. Real neurons.
> $35K per system
> 30 units run on ~1000W
> Your brain runs on ~20W
> AI data centers burn megawatts
They’re now selling Wetware as a Service.
Developers can literally deploy code to living neurons in the cloud.
This neither simulation nor silicon, this is Actual brain cells.
Welcome to biological computing.
I resigned from OpenAI. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together. This wasn’t an easy call. AI has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I’m proud of what we built together.

Last year, France sent us 22.6 terawatt hours of (mostly nuclear) electricity, about eight percent of our total.
It also sent Italy 26.2 terawatt hours, Germany 23.1, and Switzerland 20.1
Ours and Germany's crazy energy policies would cost us a lot more if France wasn't, kindly, running a reliable nuclear grid, producing Europe's cheapest non-hydro electricity.
Thank God for France!
