@BathCA Hardly a gimmick, they fill a gap in public transport that would otherwise have to be filled by a car journey.
This photo is also very misleading, the overwhelming majority of users ride sensibly and safely.
@evanrud What I would say is that people who are politically engaged are a small minority in the grand scheme of things, so it's difficult to see how this community engagement would work. It clearly isn't at the moment, for many local issues!
@evanrud Completely agree. Cycling lanes are often very poorly designed, and can make issues worse for cyclists. Community engagement is what's needed as you say. What's clear is that we need to reduce our reliance on cars, and to make ensure that our public highways work for everyone
@NYWELSH @BANESConCllrs@bathnesld Perhaps they are turning right and didn’t want to have to cut across a lane of traffic filled with cars and lorries to do so?
Cycle lanes aren’t always the safest option 🤷♂️
@BathCA@sidcot @kbec8079 @Emilio4Bath Perhaps if you put all the energy you spend arguing with disappointed cyclists on Twitter into something more positive, you’d actually start gaining some traction in Bath…
@BathCA@sidcot @kbec8079 @Emilio4Bath Perhaps that’s something to reflect on? I think I’d be very disappointed as a conservative voter to see how petty and negative @BathCA are towards seemingly everything that’s happening in Bath. Is it really that bad? Maybe you should move…
@kbec8079 @watershipbrakey @Emilio4Bath @BathCA They only charge for rentals, so the business model is very different. Actually the trails there were originally built and maintained by volunteers because that’s the kind of positive community MTB promotes. Shame really!
@sidcot @kbec8079 @Emilio4Bath @BathCA They have values beyond 1) Look out for number one, 2) When number one is looked after, look after all your rich mates… And yes terrible decisions made by years of useless, corrupt government mean our council tax doesn’t go as far. So they are equally accountable.
@kbec8079 @Emilio4Bath @BathCA Yes, because council-run surveys are notoriously representative of the population, with no skew at all 🙄
As it states in the report, the small fenced off area is what would have paid for the more popular facilities. Now all we'll have is an over grown mess that no one can use
