@mhrluscombe @DanielJHannan Need to reclaim land like the Maldives have done and build a proper airport. Blenheim reef would be my pick, to minimise eco impact and develop Pero Bhanos and others as low impact tourist sites. Would pay for itself due to tourism.

@DawnWestgate @albieamankona Land can be reclaimed for development, as the Maldives have done successfully. The MPA was only created by the FCDO to stymie any attempt to return by the Chagossians. However, the BIOT is so huge that some derogation from the MPA could be granted, to ensure economic development

@EdwynNich2828 @DrChrisParry I agree. Henderson island, the largest of the Pitcairn Islands, is uninhabited. Very difficult terrain, but it should be developed. Room for an airport at least (unlike Pitcairn itself)

@LeeHurstComic France does not have colonies. They are overseas departments, elect deputies to the National Assembly and use the euro (mostly). UK could do the same with its OTs but chooses not to.
