@GraemePeacock1 Apparently the Percy Lion on Northumberland House was once turned so that its bottom pointed at Carlton House and the Prince Regent following an argument. And then turned back again when he became King George IV.
@CapelLofft My late father, a Devonian, would sometimes refer to the county as Devonshire. Mind you, he would still refer to Oxfordshire south of the Thames as Berkshire so 🤷
