Bajaj is trending because a patriotic Nigerian claims the popular motorcycle has dropped from ₦1.2M to ₦750k, a whooping 37.5% off, due to Pres. Tinubu’s policies.
— This is unfortunately false. The bike has infact increased to ₦1.3M.
For proof, they cited an outdated non existent Jumia Screenshot.
Meanwhile, people who bought the bike last month and even this month paid over ₦1.2M and the bike dealers confirmed the bike still retails between ₦1.2M to ₦1.350M depending on location.
When the patriotic Bolaji was challenged that, the same bike was ₦80k in 2010. And ₦150k in 2015. Now ₦1.2M and ₦750k in 2025 according to him, why should it be celebrated?
Bolaji said, this is the real price. That when it was cheaper since 2010, it was because the Government was subsidizing it by 90% for Nigerians.
Consequently, folks are begging him to collect ₦750k and help them purchase the ₦750k bike., none of the patriots have responded.
Also, Naira’s current gain against the USD has absolutely nothing to do with Pres. Tinubu’s policies or Nigeria. It is a global market phenomenon, USD is losing value due to the tarrif wars and Trump’s hasty policies.
It is not a FG’s policy influenced deflation. If it were price of fuel will drop, gas will drop, but it is the opposite instead. Albeit, some things are dropping in the market, but not at a 35-45% rate as the patriots claim.
Actually, Jumia did list the bike for ₦700k and ₦645k. But it is an outdated post, which is economically impossible. And has long been removed from the site.
