@ocdrecovery What ifs, visualise them…. Feel them and think “yep maybe it could happen maybe it won’t”. Rather than trying to map our anxiety on a scale of 0-10 and how realistic they are to happen. ERP lets you sit and LIVE with the worse case scenario. Hope this makes sense 😶😁
@ocdrecovery Like you’ve said…… it’s been around in some way for many years. But having this therapy on a 1-2-1 basis and learning new coping mechanism and skills is AMAZING ! I feel CBT is more around thinking “what’s the worse that could happen”…. Where ERP gets you to sit with those…

Many of the people I encounter who have #OCD say that their #recovery is not working because their anxiety is not going down.
This is one of the biggest misconceptions of what true #OCDrecovery looks like! In fact, things might feel worse before they feel better.
#realOCD isn’t a cute quirk or an adjective to describe yourself. It’s a REAL mental illness that’s significantly distressing for the sufferer and loved ones. Be kind, research the disorder and help #stampoutthestigma we can make the change that’s needed to mental ill health !

OCD action week: 'What helped you in your journey with OCD?'
For me, medication helped so much & specific sustained CBT/ERP therapy changed my life. I also changed jobs - removing much stress from my daily life. Staying highly creative keeps OCD away for me #Mewithocd@ocdaction
Come on #imacelebrity allowing someone to say they’re “so OCD” in their introductory spiel, perpetuating the misconception that OCD is about being tidy and keeping order. I wish it was just that; not a terrifying lifelong mental health condition @TamingOlivia@ocdaction@OCDUK
Just cos you like things tidy, it doesn’t mean you’re so OCD
It’s a deliberating illness that ruins lives and, cos of comments like that, it took me over 15 years to seek help. We need to do better 💚
#ImACeleb has only been on a few moments and @ITV have already allowed the misuse of #OCD to take place!WOW, in 2021 we are still stigmatising mental health and allowing it to be aired on prime time TV ! Disgusting, Not useful and damaging. @arlenephillips please educate yourself
