I couldn’t see how anyone could be educated by this self-propagating system in which people pass exams, and teach others to pass exams, but nobody knows anything.
Make critical thinking a foundational subject in education. Teach students how to think critically, analyze information, and discern fact from fiction using scientific methods, creating a more discerning and informed society.
"Ptolemy made a universe which lasted 1,400 years. Newton also made a universe, which has lasted 300 years. Einstein has made a universe and I can’t tell you how long that will last.”
- George Bernard Shaw pays tribute to Albert Einstein #OTD in 1930.
#NobelPrize
C.N. Yang has passed away, aged 103.
At 35, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics (shared with T.D. Lee) for revealing that nature’s laws violate mirror symmetry (parity violation).
RIP to C. N. “Frank” Yang, one of the true greats of 20th century physics (parity violation with T. D. Lee, Yang-Mills theory) who died today at the ripe old age of 103. Freeman Dyson wrote about him in a tribute.
The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics goes to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis —
“for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit.”
Here's what I understand of their work (experts feel free to chime in) 🧵
