I’m a lifelong learner who also happens to teach physics! CAP winner, OAPT VP & current Teacher In Residence at PI! On Instagram and YouTube @physicswithmcp too
Had such a great time @staoapso today!!! It was so nice to see so many people come out for the conference 🥰 I used to spend the whole day at STAO learning at @Perimeter workshops and now I’ve come full circle and today I got to run them!!!
An absolute classic but a great activity. Teachers and students love solving the puzzle of @Perimeter Black Box!! 😁 @DaveFishPI and I just wrapped an amazing week in Newfoundland! Thanks for your wonderful hospitality!!!!
I’ve been so lucky so far on this trip to Newfoundland!!! The kids and teachers in St Johns were so lovely. We made the drive across the island today to do it all again tomorrow!!! I’m so grateful for my job @Perimeter !!!
The OAPT is super excited to show MITs climate change simulator (EnRoads) and how you can use it in your classroom. Send me a message if you want to join us Thursday at 7pm!

Good luck to all my teacher friends as you get the school year started!!!
I’ve had lots of questions lately about #SNC2D but I haven’t taught that course in almost a decade. Luckily my friend @HannLearn has!!!! 😁 Hope this helps!!!

Learning and information is not neutral - there is impact, meaning and motion.
🤯🥰 I love this view on education. I don’t feel like we ever consider the impact or ramifications for all those 💡 moments. Currently in a session run by @CanLightSource stellar outreach team!
In the blink of an eye it’s over. I feel so lucky to have met and worked with this group of phenomenal teachers who were so kind, so curious and created such a wonderful community. My heart is full and bursting. Next up, 😴
5 years ago I attended E+ @Perimeter and met some amazing humans who are still in my life. Harry made a comment that someday I’ll be the one leading the week and I full on 🙄 since I never thought it would happen.
🥳🥺🫣 …tomorrow I kick off E+. What a full circle moment!!!
The last link here is really interesting for those looking to incorporate strategies that have proven effectiveness. Combining 1 or 2 moves that have high effectiveness is huge. John Hattie’s work was one of the first texts that helped me change my practice. 😁😁😁
The more I dig into research on grading, motivation, and life-long learning -- the more convinced I am that we need to PARTNER with students on assessment.
The teacher should not be the sole judge of how well students are learning. Maybe not even the primary judge...

Stuff kids say that are actually great open ended questions for physics.
“Are cheetahs faster than falling?” - grade 1
I can see this as a start of day question to review motion or start talking about free fall or gravity. Pose the question to groups and let them go!!! 😁😁😁
For those thinking about their summer PD, the Canadian Light Source (CLS) has taken the time to do some wonderful learning and has built some incredible connections with local indigenous groups. Their last indigenous+science PD was the best I’ve done in this area. Sign up link ⬇️
@MrJoeMilliano I grabbed a trick from my biology friends that really helps!! I’ve started implementing procedure flowcharts into labs and it’s helped them understand rhythms, rationale, etc …and it works the other way which translated to better procedure writing too!!! https://t.co/FLnXWoWcM6
