@ankrgyl They seem to do excessive defense-in-depth, like their trying to cover their arses. Like "let's think of every possible edge case and add another if statement and try-catch for because you never know".
every major lifeform is arriving at the same offering:
Hard shell, ten legs, low center of gravity, sideways locomotion, two big claws
remarkable levels of convergence with very little differentiation whatsoever
every major company is arriving at roughly the same offering:
persistent memory, email/calendar/messages, browser + computer use, background tasks, proactive notifications, voice, app/tool execution, ambient context, & some notion of a personal agent sitting above everything.
remarkable levels of convergence with very little differentiation whatsoever.
I have a set of APIs that lets @Muse / Instinct etc provision a durable phone number that they can use to make and receive SMS and calls.
I think this is meaningfully more useful than the (not fully rolled out) native calling on both platforms since the number is durable and there's inbound and outbound.
Ping me if you want to try. @dannolan and I have been using it and it slaps because it's built on Lorikeet infra :)
@fictillius@JohnGrahamALP@ChrisMinnsMP This would be a very cool loop around the suburbs. One might call it a Suburban Rail Loop. If only they didn't screw up the electrical systems 😭
@willdepue I see it as a point on the LLM pareto optimal curve in a regime that had a large revealed latent demand (no thinking, single token, low latency acceptable intelligence) that was under-invested into because of a race to higher intelligence.
stealing from @natfriedman: 'we are all tied down by invisible orthodoxy'. all of Jev's capabilities were possible with existing models, yet just slower/expensive/tedious. we've acclimated to AI's limitations and forgotten what products are possible without them. much alpha here
Jev is cool et all but if they didn't make a slick launch video would people continue to pay absurd amounts for frontier models to do classification tasks? I guess one implication is that there is huge arbitrage in finding products or startups who are bad at marketing.
@HarryStebbings@jasonlk@rodriscoll I reckon the killer app for personal agents is crawling back money. The people I know hooked on Instinct or Muse always start with "it saved me $400". That's a good one liner. It will drive the cost of consumer goods to the marginal cost by eliminating switching costs.
I'm waiting for @Meta to hook up Facebook Marketplace and @Muse so you can move out, take pictures of everything you want to sell, and let agents haggle and tell you someone is showing up at your place at 3 to buy your couch for $200.
