A 17-year-old just built a mind-controlled prosthetic arm for $300.
Yes, $300.
For something that usually costs $450,000.
Let that hit you.
A teenager, working from home, used AI, cheap materials, and 23,000 lines of code to build a device that reads brain signals without surgery, without implants, and without a $450K price tag.
This is not a feel-good story.
It’s a warning shot.
How can a high school student build something 1,500× cheaper than the industry standard?
What does that say about innovation?
About pricing?
About who gets access to life-changing technology?
Of course, medical prosthetics are expensive for real reasons:
materials, testing, regulation, customization.
But let’s be honest — not all of that justifies a half-million-dollar price.
This story exposes a simple truth:
The future of accessibility won’t come from the system.
It will come from the outsiders who dare to challenge it.
If a 17-year-old can match top-tier prosthetics for a fraction of the cost…
why aren’t these solutions available to the millions who need them?
What do you think — breakthrough moment or the start of a bigger revolution?

The latest update from Rare Earth Exchanges highlights a major international acceleration to create non-Chinese rare earth mining, processing, and magnet manufacturing. Governments like the US, Australia, Canada, and France are locking in long-term, government-backed supply deals and financing—but what stands out is the new ex-China “pricing paradigm” built around security and reliability, not lowest cost.
🌍 Rare Earth Deals of the Week (Oct 6–11, 2025) Six major moves reshaped the ex-China supply chain: 📷
Big Reality Check, Plenty of Smoke and Mirrors going on in the Rare Earth Sector!
Greenland is a Funding Rort, that will never happen!
IXR Is already producing (demo scale) and commercially scaling within two years—ahead of peers by at least 3 to 5 years for heavy REE separation and direct magnet feedstock.
IXR and the UK Consortium are positioned to deliver strategic separated REOs and magnet materials years ahead of most Western heavy rare earth projects, all with full IP and supply chain control.
For IXR: A Massive Tailwind
1. IXR is among the very few with validated separation operations now and a clear, near‑dated commercial plant (2027) focused on the four magnet REEs (Nd, Pr, Dy, Tb).
2. Most “ex‑China” mine projects face 2–5+ years to first commercial production after permitting, FEED/EPC, capex close, and plant commissioning.
3. Downstream magnet projects (US/EU) are moving faster than upstream mines, which increases the premium on near‑term Western separation capacity like IXR’s and on recycling-based feedstock.
4. The new ex‑China pricing paradigm (multi‑year volume, floors, and public support) favours IXR’s model—revenues tied to strategic security contracts rather than volatile spot.
Notes on uncertainty
1. Exact dates depend on permitting, EPC mobilization, and public‑funding approvals. “High risk” projects are those still pre‑FS or pre‑permit (Tanbreez, Wicheeda) or attempting first‑of‑kind scale‑up (USAR).
2. Where ranges are shown (e.g., 2027–28), they reflect typical critical‑minerals project slippage for EPC and grid/interconnect readiness.

Smoke and Mirrors? They all talk the talk, but can they walk the walk?
Concentrating on Rare Earths only, very interesting stats, sooner or later the market will have to notice IXRs Ionic Technologies
Only three are currently producing rare earth oxide products in the West: MP Materials, Energy Fuels, and Ionic Rare Earths/Ionic Technologies.
1. MP Materials is the only fully operational commercial-scale REO producer in the US, but cannot meet HREE demand and magnets supply chain remains LREE-siloed, MP Materials dominates with 45,000 MT/year MREC capacity, followed by Lynas (overseas) and Energy Fuels (expanding to heavy REEs). Only MP Materials has integrated magnet production (1,000 MT/year NdFeB magnets).
2. USA Rare Earth/TMRC have pilot REO output and plan a 2026 commercial US magnet plant, but remain pre-commercial for HREEs and full vertical until Round Top ramps up.
3. Critical Metals, NioCorp, REEMF all have resources, no production, rely on future permitting or https://t.co/03pk7Tuh6d Fuels achieved small-batch pilot HREE/REO output and targets scale in late 2026.
4. IXR/Ionic Technologies is the only company producing separated Dy, Tb, Nd, Pr REOs (not just LREE) from aWestern site Belfast, UK) in regular 24/7 operation and directly supplying partners. Demonstration plant is commercial-ready; scale-up is funded and integrated with established downstream partners. Recycling Innovation: Ionic Technologies represents the only operational magnet recycling technology producing high-purity Dy/Tb oxides in the West.
5. MAGNET MANUFACTURING Only USA Rare Earth, MP, and IXR (through partners) are close to large-scale Western magnet chain re-establishment by 20262028
IXR is the one of a few of Western company currently producing separated heavy rare earth oxides (Dy/Tb) commercially, IXRs Ionic Technologies: Only company with operational HREE separation (Dy/Tb) since January 2024- exactly what China's October 2025 export restrictions are targeting. Most other companies are either development-stage or focused on light rare earths only.
🧑🔬 Western rare earth reality check (Oct 2025):
Only 4 producers: MP Materials, Energy Fuels, IXR Ionic Technologies, Lynas
Only IXR & Energy Fuels have true HREE (Dy/Tb) capability—IXR already producing, most others just light REEs
MP & USA Rare Earth ramping up US magnet output, IXR partners operational now
IXR: only Western producer of separated Dy/Tb—exactly what new China export restrictions target
Supply chain? IXR already integrates feedstock ➡️ REE separation ➡️ metals/magnets ➡️ OEMs (Ford, Bentley, Wright Bus)
Most others: 2+ years from real production
China’s chokehold on HREEs is real—IXR is breaking through NOW. #RareEarths #HREE #SupplyChain #NationalSecurity #IXR
🚨 RARE EARTH REALITY CHECK: While most Western REE companies are still in development, IXR Ionic Technologies stands ALONE as the only company currently producing separated heavy rare earth oxides (Dy/Tb) commercially
🇨🇳 China just expanded export controls targeting these exact materials
🏭 The Numbers:
MP Materials: 45K tpa concentrate, trial magnets late 2025
Energy Fuels: HREE pilot only, commercial 2026
USA Rare Earth: Still planning stage
IXR: 24/7 Belfast operations since Jan 2024 ✅
🔗 Complete supply chain integration:
EMR → Belfast Processing → LCM → VAC/GKN → Ford/Bentley/Wrightbus
While others chase headlines, IXR delivers results. £11M UK govt backing, 400 tpa commercial plant 2027.
