How do you feel about $10 million of your taxpayer dollars going to schools in Colorado? Our Texas public schools have not received an allotment increase since 2019 but maybe Colorado needed it more? #txlege#followthemoney
#WearOrange day honors all those lost to gun violence - together we can enact sensible gun violence prevention legislation in Virginia and across the nation. #ManEnoughtoBeaMom@MomsDemand
I will fight for our Texas public schools, educators and all students. My ask is for you to use your skill of teaching and educate your friends, families and neighbors about the truth behind “school choice”. #TXdem24#txlege#hd52@TexasAFT@txstateteachers
Finding out your kid’s classroom teacher, coach, or fine arts teacher is not coming back next year? Thank @GregAbbott_TX and his legislative friends who refuse to fund our public schools. The budget cuts are here. #txlege#hd52
Today is the 11-year mark of Sandy Hook and still nothing has changed. We just released this video @DemocracyMoms with our partners called Thoughts & Prayers. We hope you follow us there and donate to the cause to help us get this on the air. #gunreform https://t.co/DY98A3nvEB
Call 202-224-3121. Ask for Senator Dick Durbin to mark up the assault weapons ban (S.25) in the Judiciary Committee. With Ossoff’s cosponsorship now official, we have the votes to pass this bill in Judiciary and show Leader Schumer that he must act. Please call now!
We love seeing @MomsDemand red shirts all over the Capitol today. While our legislature has yet to pass real #commonsensegunreform LIKE THE MAJORITY OF TEXANS WANT, these moms aren't giving up & neither are we! #txlege
BREAKING: National treasure and witness in the Manhattan Trump case, Stormy Daniels, has just spoke out on whether she is afraid to face former President Trump in the court of law. Her comments are certain to infuriate him:
"I've seen him naked. There's no way he could be scarier with his clothes on."
BREAKING: Republican Liz Cheney urges her party to "spend less time banning books" and "more time stopping the horrific gun violence in our schools" in response to the tragic AR-15 school shooting that claimed the lives of six people in Nashville — meanwhile the rest of the Republican Party is racing to defend assault weapons and the NRA. RT TO THANK LIZ CHENEY FOR TAKING A STAND!
BREAKING: A woman charges in front of live Fox News cameras after the tragic Nashville school shooting to ask if they're "tired" of having to cover mass shootings and asks "how is this still happening" and "how are our children still dying" and says the violence will continue until lawmakers "step up" and pass new gun laws. RT IF YOU THINK THAT SHE'S ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
Republicans are going mad over President Biden’s new Executive Order strengthening Gun Background checks. They say it's "unconstitutional" because the 2nd Amendment states “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,”
FACTS matter though, so here are the facts:
In the more than 100 years that background check laws have existed, no court has ever deemed them unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. There have been approximately 5 million firearm sales denied in the US since 1994 and not a single court challenge has ever been overturned due to 2nd Amendment concerns.
Gun permits are denied for the following reasons after a background check:
- Convicted of crime punishable by prison for more than 1 year.
- Fugitive from justice
- Addicted or illegally using controlled substance
- Certain mental illnesses
- Illegally in the U.S.
- Dishonorably discharged from US Military.
- Court order for threats, talking or harassment.
- Domestic violence conviction.
- Under the age of 18 and/or 21.
Why do Republicans think these people should own guns?
