PLAYSTATION GOES DARK ON AUGUST 23
seven days. consoles off on purpose.
- august 23, 7:00 pm local -> august 30, 7:00 pm local
- no logins. no sessions. no purchases on any sony platform
- called by @DoesItPlay1
sony ends disc production for every new playstation game in january 2028.
a new release becomes a download, or a box with a code in it.
the petition is approaching 350,000 verified names.
sony's public reply, twenty-six days in: nothing.
so the community stopped asking politely.
engagement is the number sony leads with every quarter, ahead of hardware.
the published figure only samples the last month of a quarter.
the internal dashboards read every single day.
a week-shaped hole in late august lands on someone's desk long before
november does.
a petition needs sony to choose to read it.
an empty server counts itself.

going dark on the 23rd? reply with your timezone.
@Polygon@Polygon being straight up bold to the point of edgyness. It's become obvious @Sony@PlayStation are pulling all the strings they can to reivindicate their decision.
This is good. Don't let the fraudulent narrative discourage your fight!

So what? Blu-ray movies also do small numbers; it doesn't mean they shouldn't exist! Consumer choice is always good! Not to mention PlayStation is missing out on selling collector's editions to their hardcore audience. 100K of a limited edition is a lot of money on the table!
@bottygerjoe@InsiderGamingIG This is retarded, Apple TV never had a disk option. We've spent years collecting physical games b/c it was always an option. I bought a PS5 w/ a disc drive to own my games. I don't want to pay for cloud storage, which is where this is headed.
@Shubham21045@statesminds@InsiderGamingIG I think you're being contrary for engagement, so congrats on my reply to you. I'm sure Internet points will get you far in life. 🙄
Consumers should be able to own, collect, trade, sell, and lend their games. Just like we do with books, films, music, and comic books. We should have a choice between digital and physical. They both have advantages and disadvantages. Make your voice heard! I do not support this!
