a user recently bought a 7000usd prebuilt pc and found that the pny 5090 caught fire a day after use.
Sadly the pc prebuild store denied warranty and claimed that the gpu "ic" is dead.
one of the 12v input solid caps for nvvdd got a burn mark. the fire or smoke could have come from the solid cap or the mlcc/mosfet near it. Anyway I doubt the gpu core is dead/killed by this short.

@Gamedayxyz@nvidia I just got a WireView Pro 2 for my 9070xt Nitro+ test bench. Even at under 400w, I'm still getting lots of "current imbalance" alarms. It's pretty crazy how bad this connector really is.
@compusemble It's crazy! I have around a 10ยฐC delta between core and hotspot on 5090, but have 20ยฐC+ delta on 9070xt. Why did Nvidia hide this sensor? It doesn't seem any worse than previous generations.
I slipped, tripped, and took 2 nails in the foot while trying to spray a wasps nest. They went right thru my Crocs. The whole thing was actually pretty hilarious ๐. I just wish I could remember if my tetnaus shot is still up to date or not.
@itsHemu2K@TechDoneRight1 Yeah I only have two 48gb 6400c32 kits. I'll have to see how much a difference it makes before dropping big $ on anything right now.
@reborn_444 Both of my kids have the option to game on PS5 or PC. They choose PC 100% of the time. The PS5 has probably only ever been used for around 6hrs. It literally sits in my son's closet. Daddy likes to hoard hardware.
@mpr_reviews I got Mina the Hollower+Dark Scrolls bundle, Trails of Cold Steel, and Shin Megami Tensei. Trails of Cold Steel has been great, but haven't played the others. I have a bad habit of buying games but never finishing them :(
