Since the calendar was released, some people already complained that we scheduled the student art show for Tevet 13, simply because it's "25 December" on their Pope Gregory Calendar.

Re: the cake thing. I think it’s a ESH situation. She should not have asked what he wanted if she was going to ignore it; he could have handled it just as honestly, but with more grace and kindness.

NASA comments on the Voyager 2 pointing error for its communications antenna. NASA anticipates self-correction on October 15, but in the meantime, there are no comms links possible.

I used to live in the mountains with no street address. Mail went to the post office and we picked it up, but there was no box number. The post master just knew who we were, and who everyone was.

It caused NO END of problems. Sometimes I miss rural living but I don’t miss that.

I think an underemphasized mechanism of empathy loss in average people who became concentration camp guards is that the conditions in concentration camps made people disgusting. They had constant diarrheal diseases, didn’t have resources to clean themselves & then lost the energy

This first winter I lived in CA we had 4feet dump at once (I lived in the mountains). I was snowed in for 4 days. It was not the SoCal experience I had expected.
