UPDATE: The story I broke just got a response from the Department of Justice.

Weeks ago, many in the media and political establishment tried to dismiss concerns surrounding the actions of Newark officials and members of Congress at Delaney Hall.

Today, the DOJ issued a formal letter addressing those events and reminding public officials that federal immigration facilities and federal officers are not subject to political interference.

What started as a local story has now become a matter serious enough to draw the attention of the Department of Justice.

This is why independent journalists, citizen investigators, whistleblowers, and everyday Americans who refuse to look away matter.

The truth has a funny way of eventually forcing its way into the spotlight.

We’ll see what happens next.

🚨 Karmelo Anthony’s father pushes a huge lie on National Television — “The jury for my son was an All White Jury”

These are the facts:
There were 6 minorities total on the full 18-person panel (12 jurors + 6 alternates)
• the jury that decided his sons fate included Asian, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern/Indian jurors.

There were also Three qualified Black prospective jurors who were struck during selection because they expressed difficulty with convicting a young Black man, even if he was guilty.

And Karmelo even requested the jury sentence him instead of the judge.

The fact that his father is playing this card is sad, and this is the exact kind of piss poor parenting that results in what happened.

I have a serious question for anyone at the Office of the Secretary of the Navy or the Department of War. Why are underway Sailors at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, many of whom are currently deployed to the Middle East for combat operations against Iran, required to pay $80 per month to the Navy Exchange (NEX) - a retail chain meant to support Sailors and their families which is owned and operated by the U.S. Navy - just to store their cars inside an overgrown, nonsecure, fenced lot? If Sailors decide not to park in the lot and leave their car anywhere else on base, they risk having their car towed, impounded, and in some cases auctioned off. How does this support our Sailors, many of whom are already struggling financially? Can something please be done about this? @SECNAV @USNavy @DeptofWar @DOWResponse @PeteHegseth
