Recently, Rahul Gandhi organized an event called 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' (Voice of Students) in Kota, Rajasthan, claiming it would be an interaction with students. Instead, he just gathered a bunch of children and criticized Modi. In the recently held local body elections for the 100-seat Kota municipality, the BJP won 55 seats and the Congress won 40 seats. Wherever Rahul Gandhi holds an event, it only ends up benefiting the BJP.

Rahul Gandhi claims that 99% of sexual violence, rape and molestation cases go unreported.

Reality: FALSE ❌

The much-repeated “99%” figure is not an official NCRB estimate. It comes from an older media analysis based on NFHS-4 (2015–16) data and referred to sexual violence incidents. It did not establish separate under-reporting rates for rape, molestation and other sexual offences.

Instead of relying on misleading statistics, look at the legal and procedural reforms introduced by the Modi government to make reporting and prosecution easier:

Zero FIR: A victim can register an FIR at any police station, regardless of jurisdiction.

Online reporting: Certain incidents can be reported electronically without first visiting a police station.

Time-bound investigation: Under the new criminal laws, investigations into offences against women and children are required to be completed within two months of recording the information.

Faster trials: Charges are to be framed within 60 days, while judgments are to be pronounced within 45 days after completion of the trial.

Stronger evidence collection: Statements of rape victims are to be audio-video recorded, while forensic experts are required to visit and videograph crime scenes for offences punishable with 7 years or more.

Victim safeguards: Rape medical reports are required to reach investigators within seven days, and victims are entitled to receive updates on case progress within 90 days.

Facts matter. Serious issues like sexual violence deserve accurate data and responsible public discussion—not sensational claims built around a misleading statistic.
