This is Philip’s tumor in 2012. This image was just taken 18 months after surgery to remove it. It threatened his airway, blood vessels, motor function, and vagus nerve. This type of tumor has a 10-15% risk of turning malignant. #benignisnotfine

Happy to report that after 84 cycles of #selumetinib, Philip’s plexiform tumor remains stable with no signs of malignancy. At age 16 standing, 5’10”tall, he’s a walking miracle, thanks to God and our amazing medical teams at @NCI_CCR_PedOnc, @uabmedicine and @ChildrensAL #ENDNF

My son will be imparting “wisdom” at the end of the month, assuming we can all stay COVID free. Please, for the love, wear a mask in public and quarantine when you experience symptoms. This is not an easy surgery for a kid with a neck tumor that affects his airway.#endnf
