The All Devouring thousands of data centers have moved into new territory. They are now hiring away electricians, as well as other specialty trade workers, from local communities and paying them more with grossly undertaxed corporate dollars. When will this moloch driven by a few giant AI companies be exposed for its waste, redundancy and data secrecy?
The moloch is devouring local water and land, generating noise and pollution and providing few jobs as their presence increases electricity prices for residential homes. More states than New York need to pass moratoriums on further construction. 40% of the American people live within five miles of a data center and its only going to get worse with hundreds more giant data centers being planned. -R
Here is what I actually cannot explain:
The year is 2003.
The United States invades Iraq on the basis of "weapons of mass destruction" that do not exist.
This is not a matter of interpretation. It is documented.
The intelligence was manipulated.
The case was fabricated.
The people who fabricated it knew it was fabricated.
Some of them have said so, on record, in memoirs that were reviewed positively in the same newspapers that helped sell the war.
One million people died.
The country was destroyed. The infrastructure, the institutions, the social fabric.
ISIS emerged from the power vacuum.
The region destabilized in ways still producing casualties today.
Not one person went to prison.
The architects of the decision became senior fellows at think tanks.
They wrote books.
They appeared on television as "serious foreign policy voices."
Some of them are now presented as "voices of reason" in the anti-Trump discourse.
And the next time the same government, with many of the same institutional actors, said there was a foreign threat that required military response, a significant portion of the population believed them.
That is what I cannot explain.
Not the lie.
Governments lie.
The bottomless, renewable, apparently inexhaustible willingness to be lied to again.
More than a fifth of credit cardholders paid a late fee in the past year.
JPMorgan Chase, American Express, Capital One, and Citigroup collected $146 billion in credit card revenue last year.
The DNC needs to issue a mea culpa. Then, it needs to get behind Jill Stein and get to work on Trump before we're all fried sugar cubes.
Without a candidate, you got nothing. That's what we got and without one, that's what we'll get...or much worse.
Move your asses. Now.
In 2009, when I resigned over the escalation of the Afghan War and received tremendous media attention, it took a week or two for the smear campaign against me to begin. Ultimately, General Petraeus and Central Command hired a strategic communications firm to discredit and denigrate me. Today, the “important background” about Kent came in less than an hour following reports of his resignation.
American media has changed so greatly in those 17 years, not simply with the introduction and adoption of smart phones and social media, but with the near total compliance of traditional, legacy and corporate media with the American national security establishment.
Yes, a mutually beneficial relationship existed two decades ago between the national security establishment and the corporate media, but not to the degree it exists today.
I hope Joe Kent gets front page coverage on the Washington Post and is interviewed on the Today Show as I was, but I suspect corporate media will quickly ignore him or offer the Administration’s smears with as much weight as his protest and criticism.
