The Palestinian cause is not a cause for Palestinians only, but a cause for every revolutionary, wherever they are, as a cause of the exploited and oppressed masses in our era.

It did not begin on October 7th 2023, nor did it begin in 1948. The Zionist colonial project has a much longer history, as detailed forensically in Sabri Jiryis The Foundations of Zionism, published in English for the first time exactly one year ago today https://t.co/GGtEnzNc8X
A thousand people protest in a socialist country, and Western media screams, “Communism has failed.” Two hundred thousand protest in capitalist France, and not one of them dares to ask whether capitalism is the problem.
On this day 26 years ago, the world watched, as Jamal al-Durrah tried to protect his 12-year-old son Muhammad from Israeli bullets that rained down on them in Gaza for 40 minutes. Despite pleads, Israeli soldiers intentionally shot Muhammad in the stomach- whose final moments of fear and horror were caught on camera and streamed by France TV, and injured his father.
Muhammad became the defining and haunting image of the Second Intifada.
🚨🚨🚨Launch Day!

Once again, he makes genocide an issue of policy disagreement. I said it before and I’ll say again, someone who is so utterly cowardly and willing to pivot wherever the wind slightly blows if it means winning, is someone who will absolutely fight for nothing. A bonafide Democrat.
The best way to “help the Palestinian people” is to leave Palestine. Renounce your citizenship (as many anti-Zionists have done). Support the armed resistance with your full chest. Report your sources committing genocide to the Hind Rajab Foundation and The Hague.
Incredible section about jazz musicians’ love for the famously pro-Soviet American singer Paul Robeson from Gerald Horne’s fantastic book, Jazz and Justice. I couldn’t believe that Max Roach quote.
"Authority exists, and revolution means seizing and maintaining it by force. To reject that starting point is to have lost before even beginning to fight."
My critique of modern radical liberal "abolitionism”: Today’s self-described “abolitionists” claim to be revolutionary while tending to condemn all the means needed to make a revolution.
Police and prison abolitionism emerged from the 2020 uprising as supposedly the most radical position to identify with. The impulse of this position is correct, but its essence is wrong.
That is, police in the US emerged directly out of the institution of chattel slavery; the first police patrols were slave catchers; police serve as the domestic foot soldiers of imperialism, occupying the internal colonies. Of course, US prisons/police should be abolished in the sense that the settler colonial, white supremacist, state apparatus of the so-called United States should be dismantled.
And of course, prisons/policing are not a pleasant experience anywhere in the world (that’s kind of the point...), and I do not doubt that there are some people unjustly imprisoned and abused in every country in the world.
That does not mean that all prisons/policing across the world carry the same class or racial character as the US system, or that they are all inherently reactionary. Whether the US system should be abolished and whether vastly different carceral systems everywhere should be abolished are two very distinct questions that, I argue, do not have the same answer.
Today's abolitionism in practice seems perfectly compatible with attacking imperialism’s enemies and reforming the imperialist state no matter how much it claims to want to “abolish” it.
The US and its empire should be abolished. The systems leading to mass poverty, mental illness, crime, and imprisonment should be dismantled. The oppressors and war criminals at the helm of those systems should face justice and severe punishment. Prisons that do still exist in a post-revolutionary world for regular crimes should be focused on rehabilitation, not endless cycles of incarceration.
Authority exists, and revolution means seizing and maintaining it by force. To reject that starting point is to have lost before even beginning to fight.

I hung out with Jeff and Mike on DDSWTNP! We chatted about trash, environmentalism, art, the Rolling Stones, and more, focusing on parts 3 and 4 of DeLillo’s 1997 magnum opus, UNDERWORLD. It was an honor to be on the podcast. https://t.co/VNtFg2jIz6
As someone working to counter the toxic influence of Sean Wilentz within the field of Bob Dylan studies (which is, at present, a safe haven for liberals still fighting the 80s-90s culture wars), I will make ample use of these insightful & penetrating essays from Critical Noise ❤️
