@alexbloor In Toronto you'll see big 9m hatched semicircles drawn outside the entrances to buildings to allow safe passage. I thought it seemed to work well.
@OctopusEnergy A shoutout to Mayz on frontline customer support for doing an excellent job in communicating and resolving a tricky metering issue. Thank you.
@TheRealRevK @OctopusEnergy Mine went offline in June. They have no automated system to detect this and rely upon customers calling in to report. They then request a remote reset/restart of the module to the WAN provider, but that takes upto 2 weeks to complete. Only then will they send an engineer to sort.
@alexbloor Meanwhile, the insurers and repairers cosy-up with each other and drive the price up. Less repairs (and easier) due to few crashes and fewer parts means they can no longer maintain the relationship and prices can't be driven high. ..Or something like that.
@alexbloor Short term, EVs just don't catch fire that easily, especially when compared with a fossil fuel vehicle that by design is constantly combusting liquid and hoping there's no leaks..
@alexbloor Relatedly, I don't know if you've seen this. AXA isn't exactly a small company, and they full well knew that their video would go out without mention that it was deliberately faked.

@alexbloor The problem there is that a large majority of those that buy newspapers still view that they are inherently trustworthy; no amount of people can dissuade them that what is printed is might be misleading.
@alexbloor When they have most of the newspapers in the hands of FUD, it can become overwhelming how they can feel they be heard, hence resorting to reductionism and rudeness out of frustration.
@alexbloor The ‘problem’ is that it is known that the fossil fuel industry is spending huge amounts of money on FUD surrounding renewables. There is probably a cycle of those new to renewables discovering this and wanting to ‘fight’ against big corp.
@alexbloor I'd love them a whole lot more when they start working across the family! Have always been able to do with this with Tile so not sure if feature is patent restricted or Apple is just being a pain.
@KamilPyc@nicklockwood My average is 174 days from replace to low battery warning. I’ll can normally leave them a month before actually having to change them though.
