A full-length movie that was animated to look like a PS1 game has premiered at Cannes
‘Le Vertige’ was animated by five recent graduates using Blender, an iPhone, and a cheap app to capture the style
@andrewpprice Given the overall "vibe" in the community, at least by the outspoken part of the community, I think strategically this might be the best move in the short term, to keep the core audience happy. Monetarily and long-term, this is probably not great, as you say.
@rileyb3d Hi, I know you're focused on game dev at the moment but will there still be updates? Being able to turn with the mouse (like a shooter) even when not moving, shooting anims, etc. Would be so helpful. Working on an animation at the moment that will show the potential!
@robertrioux That's always been the case and not how modifiers in general work in Blender. I've also found it annoying for the entirety of my Blender career though. 😄 Especially for the mirror modifiert! That would be so handy.
@rileyb3d - Strafing animation (torso front, hip and feet sideways for more varied action)
- More interaction animations - if possible layered (shooting, punching, talking only for upper body while running, strafing, jumping)
- Make it work with more rig types (IK)
Testing @rileyb3d's Third Person Kit addon. Love it. It fits perfectly with my retro game style and is gonna save me sooo much time. Still some things to improve... boy is it jittery, but I think that's the run cycle animation. The addon works great! #b3d
@BlenderConf@Blender I definitely will! (As I've done every year) I'm so grateful that you make all this available. I'm still incredibly sad I can't meet everyone in person but at least I won't miss everything.
I'm just completly devestated right now. Tomorrow I would have visited the @BlenderConf for the first time after being an avid @Blender user for 15 years. All paid by the company I work for. But I got sick after my vacation and had to cancel. Maybe next year. Damn.
These statements are always funny because in a few months we will start seeing VFX showreels of behind the scenes footage of these movies having full digi doubles, wire removals, set extensions, sky replacements, compositing work, etc, etc
