Was reminded of a recent puliyabaazi episode wherein they discussed about the tragedy of farmers dumping tomatoes on the roadside due to lack of demand @thescribblebee@pranaykotas@saurabhchandra
India produced 11% of the world’s tomatoes in 2022–24, but accounted for just 0.2% of processed tomato exports by volume.
Across many crops, agricultural abundance has not translated into processing strength. What needs to change? 1/8
@pranaykotas@acorn All nice thoughts, Pranay & excellent suggestions. The ruling party should come up with some good proposals like this. The onus is on them to drive consensus.
Instead they acted in bad faith and tried to ram through a poorly drafted bill with no discussion. Bad start.
Evidence shows that when NREGS was implemented well, it raised rural wages and private employment—boosting demand and growth; promoting equity and efficiency.
Reforms should fix implementation, not revoke the right to employment.
Read my op-ed (w @sandipz) in @htTweets today:
The sad part of the war:
-Karachi wasn’t bombed. A coup didn’t happen. But our TV said it all did.
-Anchors shouted over blaring sirens and flying graphics, demanding cities be “set on fire.”
-While ministry officials stressed calm and precision, studios staged nightly war dramas.
-Reality lost; rage won. Even foreign ministers were abused live on air.
-Newspapers tried to stay factual, but by morning, it was old news.
-Misinformation flooded border regions already under blackout and threat.
-Ceasefire felt like defeat to viewers expecting victory thanks to TV news and X warriors. Foreign secretary and his family were trolled.
-Hysteria outpaced headlines. National interest was replaced by nightly theatre.
-Our own became our enemies.
@saffrontrail Nice one! Thought will give you material for next video. On whey protein, some influencers are stating that whey protein may accelerate tooth decay & thus pushing plant protein. Pseudoscience?

What should we think of the Indian budget? If you watch tv, commentators will assure you that it is a 10 out of 10. But did it really recognise the big problems the economy is facing? And are the measures likely to solve them? My take:

Toni Nadal says the Wimbledon final between Alcaraz & Djokovic proved that the real rivalry in the coming tournaments is between Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner, ‘Perhaps only Jannik can play the Spaniard on equal terms’
“I can imagine the doubts that Novak and his entire team had when approaching the match. The decision was not easy. It is the same one that is presented to many players and teams when they face a superior opponent. How do we approach the meeting? Do we face it with our usual weapons and our own style or, on the contrary, do we try to neutralize our rival by looking for other solutions, moving away from our characteristic game? Personally, I always chose the first. Djokovic opted for the second alternative. Knowing that neither his legs nor the precision of his blows are what they used to be, and that a long and physical match would not favor him either, he tried a tactic that in the end proved suicidal. He wanted to impose a high pace, play aggressively, shorten the exchanges from the back of the court and at the slightest opportunity, close the points on the net.”
"In my opinion, the only option the Serbian had was to try to slow down the game. To hope that he was completely right and to trust that Carlos was not having his best day…”
“Trying to beat the player from Murcia by speed is practically impossible nowadays. Perhaps only Jannik Sinner can play the Spaniard on equal terms. And, in fact, this Sunday's final confirms that the real rivalry in the next tournaments and, probably, in the next few years will be between these two: the Italian and our great Spanish champion."

@srajagopalan Hmm..Unlikely arguments: a) Pradeep Gupta had actually posted a few weeks back that NDA was likely lose seats as compared to 2019. He then deleted the post b) They don't reveal their methodology for scrutiny c) People posted multiple discrepancies seen on TV screens
