The Mississippi River and its tributaries drain nearly half of the lower 48 states.

The blue lines on this map show the Mississippi River watershed, one of the largest drainage systems on Earth. Every stream, creek, and river within this basin eventually flows into the Mississippi before reaching the Gulf of Mexico. Gravity pulls water downhill, and much of central North America lies within a vast natural drainage basin bordered by higher terrain, including the Rocky Mountains to the west and the Appalachian Mountains to the east.

Over millions of years, erosion carved an enormous network of tributaries that converge into the Mississippi, creating the most direct route to sea level. Covering about 1.2 million square miles (3.2 million km²), the watershed drains roughly 41% of the contiguous United States, including parts of 31 states and two Canadian provinces.

For thousands of years, this river system has been essential to Indigenous peoples, transportation, trade, agriculture, and commerce, playing a central role in shaping the history and economy of North America.

En México hay gente que no puede sacar su dinero del banco. No porque no sea suya. No porque haya orden judicial. Sino porque sus dedos, sencillamente, ya no marcan. La condición física que borra las huellas por vejez, por diabetes, por lupus, por tantos años de teclado o de tintes, acaba de convertirse, sin que nadie lo discutiera en serio, en una causa silenciosa de exclusión jurídica.

Cuando una señora de 85 años no puede disponer de sus ahorros porque el sensor no reconoce su huella digital, no estamos ante una molestia de ventanilla: estamos ante una interdicción de hecho, sin juez, sin curador, sin debido proceso. La Convención sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad, la @SCJN, y la Convención Interamericana sobre Personas Mayores lo dicen sin rodeos: negar un ajuste razonable es, en sí mismo, un acto de discriminación. El banco que improvisa criterios de sucursal en sucursal, o que “presta” la huella del ejecutivo para entrar a la app del cliente, no está ayudando: está suplantando una voluntad que la ley protege.

Y encima viene la CURP biométrica. Una reforma que presume universalidad mientras deja fuera, de tajo, a quienes nacieron sin crestas o las perdieron con los años. Ese es el examen pendiente que tarde o temprano llegará a la Suprema Corte: si un Estado puede exigir como llave única de la identidad algo que una parte de su población, por razones ajenas a su voluntad, no puede entregar. Mientras tanto, los afectados siguen ahí, cargando tres identificaciones, rogando que el cajero sea comprensivo, viendo cómo su propio cuerpo, envejecido, enfermo o trabajado, se vuelve el obstáculo que el derecho tenía la obligación de remover.

1. Zeno's Paradoxes:
A set of philosophical problems that challenge the concept of motion and continuity. For example, Achilles and the tortoise paradox argues that Achilles can never overtake a tortoise given a head start, as he must first reach the point where the tortoise began.

2. Russell's Paradox:
A contradiction found in naive set theory, where the set of all sets that do not contain themselves leads to a logical inconsistency. This paradox highlights problems in defining a universal set.

3. The Barber Paradox:
A self-referential paradox where a barber shaves all those who do not shave themselves. The question arises: does the barber shave himself? If he does, he shouldn't; if he doesn't, he should.

4. The Liar Paradox:
A statement that declares itself false, such as "This statement is false." If it's true, then it must be false, and vice versa, leading to a contradiction.

5. The Sorites Paradox:
This paradox arises from vague predicates, such as "heap." If removing a single grain of sand from a heap doesn’t stop it from being a heap, how many grains can be removed before it ceases to be a heap?

6. The Monty Hall Problem:
A probability puzzle based on a game show scenario. Given a choice among three doors (with a prize behind one), switching after one non-prize door is revealed increases your chances of winning from 1/3 to 2/3.

7. The Birthday Paradox:
Refers to the surprising probability that in a group of just 23 people, there's about a 50% chance that at least two individuals share the same birthday, challenging intuitive understanding of probability.

8. The Banach-Tarski Paradox:
A theorem in set-theoretic geometry that states a solid ball in 3-dimensional space can be split into a finite number of pieces that can be reassembled into two identical copies of the original ball. This paradox challenges our understanding of volume and measure.

9. The Twin Paradox:
