The use of alleged mental illness to evade accountability is truly cynical - exactly because it undermines the very real struggles that people who live with these conditions face every day.
BREAKING NEWS:
REJECTION OF STATEMENTS IMPLICATING THE LATE GENERAL ANDRE LINCOLN AT THE MADLANGA COMMISSION
"I have noted with deep concern and dismay the statements reportedly made by Mr
Fadiel Adams during his appearance before the Madlanga Commission, in which he has
sought to implicate the late General Andre Lincoln in decisions and conduct attributed
to Mr Adams.
As a lifelong friend, brother and comrade of General Lincoln, and as someone whom
Andre publicly identified as his mentor, I feel compelled to place the following on record.
Andre held the utmost respect for General Nhlanhla Mkwanazi. I also knew Andre to be a person who would never encourage or condone unlawful or unethical conduct.
Andre publicly acknowledged that I had introduced him to ANC liberation politics through Umkhonto we Sizwe. Our relationship was one of deep personal trust,
friendship and comradeship, and I therefore reject any attempt to portray him as having encouraged, facilitated or endorsed unlawful or unethical conduct.
Sadly, Andre is no longer alive to respond to these allegations or to place his own version of events before the Commission. His name should therefore not be invoked in a
manner that unfairly attributes motives, decisions or conduct to him that he cannot personally address.
It is regrettable that Mr Adams has chosen to draw the late General Lincoln into matters arising from his own testimony. I trust that the Madlanga Commission will carefully
assess the evidence before it and make appropriate findings regarding the credibility and reliability of the testimony presented to it.
General Andre Lincoln deserves to be remembered and assessed based on the life he lived, the principles he upheld and the contribution he made to South Africa, rather than
through allegations made after his death."

Fall in love with the life you keep postponing. The morning walks you keep saying you’ll start. The book you keep meaning to write. The places you want to see. The people you want to spend more time with. The version of yourself you keep promising you’ll become “when things settle down.” The truth is... life is uncertain. There will always be another deadline, another excuse, another reason to wait. Start today. And choose the life you keep telling yourself you’ll live someday.

Pardon the long video, you need to hear the whole engagement. I am more angry than I was yesterday. 😤😡 Commissioner Khumalo took Andrea Johnson through Brigadier Mokwele's QUALIFICATIONS which she had not seen up till now!!!
Khumalo: What suitable qualifications do you say Ms. Mokwele did not have when she was appointed to this position?
Johnson: I don't know her qualifications.
There was a 4 minute pause with her trying to find the documents and look at them.
Having seen the qualifications....
Khumalo: Why make a statement under oath to this Commission that she did not have qualifications?
She has withdrawn and apologized, but Brigadier Mokwele MUST SUE HER and she MUST BE FIRED!! What a shame! 😭

Commissioner Baloyi as usual, summed up what could so maar be formulated as charges against Advocate Johnson and her team, criminally, and for her unfitness to hold this Office.
The intrusive investigations they instituted against people, checking their lifestyles, bank accounts, their personal things, when they had no legal justification to do so. They must all be arrested. Bo Ramsamy bao ba teng, all of them.

Why are retirement facilities a popular choice for some families, but viewed as a total rejection of family values by others?
Caring for our ageing parents is deeply personal and tied to our cultures. The real lesson here is that we have to stop avoiding the topic and actually ask our parents what they want, long before a crisis forces the decision.
Watch our latest episode as we look at how to start these vital conversations early.

Decided to rewatch some of @HarlanCoben classics since I last tweeted; and these 4 stood out with insane re-watch value!
You will be at the edge of your seat; I arranged them in order of how awe I was while watching.
Has anyone seen any of these 4?
Whats your take?
In Centurion, 36-year-old Lerato Khumalo had just received R1,892,440.60 from selling her late father’s house.
By 14:26 that afternoon, she was seconds away from transferring the full amount to a fraudster… and the only reason she didn’t was something she had almost deleted two weeks earlier.
A Case Study

Okay, so we already know that chicken is the number one fast-food choice for most South Africans… but one chicken brand is expanding fast, and the numbers are seriously impressive.
We all know the usual suspects. I’ve recently written about Hungry Lion and its aggressive rollout, and Chicken Licken and its Fly-thrus (still my favourite rebrand of a drive-through). KFC still dominates market share.
But the brand I find most fascinating right now is Pedros.
Pedros already has over 200 stores nationwide. For a brand still considered young, that number is great. Their chicken offering is grilled, and prices are affordable.
Pedros also recently acquired the Bird & Co brand from the former CEO of Famous Brands, Kevin Hedderwick, with 9 stores in its stable. A brand that was founded by Christos Paterimos in 2018. Greg Stephenson from Pedros is now heading the expansion of Bird & Co.
I slid into the DMs of the Founder of Pedros and its Operations Director, Moosa Bux, who shared that back in 2021 their executive team set a target of 250 Pedros stores by 2027.
They are well on their way to achieving that number, with strong shareholder support, franchise partner networks, and a well-entrenched support structure in service of stores and customers.
It costs roughly R2.5 to R3.5 million to open a Pedros store, and most areas are already taken by franchise partners. That’s significantly lower than the R5.5 to R10 million setup cost of a KFC.
I’m also told there have been no store closures due to bankruptcy since the brand's launch, which points to a strong supply chain.
While the upfront store investment seems reasonable and the returns solid, I think the biggest challenge for Pedros in SA is the competitive market, and dealing with a food quality standard that must be repeatedly excellent.
And that’s before we even get to South Africa’s usual operational curveballs like blackouts and water interruptions.
Have you tried Pedros or Bird & Co? Curious to hear your experience with the brands in the comments.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the @StandardBankZA app? Mine is showing balances of R0.00 all around, when there is definitely money in. Also, swiping is being declined? Is there an issue??
