Billions of solar panels are nearing their end-of-life cycle, and the world is completely unprepared for the coming toxic avalanche.

By 2050, the International Renewable Energy Agency projects up to 78 million metric tons of useless and toxic solar e-waste. Where is it all going to go?

The industry boasts that solar panels are '95% recyclable'. Technically, yes - because they are made of glass, aluminum and copper. But economics always trumps physics. In Australia and the US, it costs roughly $20 to $40 to disassemble and recycle a single panel, but only around $4 to dump it in landfill.

Because there is no financial incentive, up to 90% of decommissioned panels go straight into the ground. There are between 7 and 8 billion solar panels in the world today. This milestone was reached as global solar capacity officially surpassed 2 Terawatts (TW).

Because the physical wattage of individual panels varies from small 300W residential rooftop modules to massive 600W utility-scale panels, 2 TW of total energy capacity translates to roughly 7 billion individual panels currently installed worldwide.

Each solar panel is an industrial 'sandwich' bound tightly by heavy polymers. To extract the microscopic amounts of valuable silver and high-purity silicon requires energy-intensive chemical and thermal baking.

When they are crushed or left to fracture in landfills, heavy metals like lead and cadmium (in thin-film technologies) can leach into the surrounding soil and groundwater, turning 'clean energy' into a multi-generational hazardous waste problem.

The crisis is accelerating faster than models predicted. Because solar cells degrade and lose efficiency, and newer, cheaper panels hit the market, consumers and solar farms are ripping out functional systems at least a decade early to upgrade.

This compressed lifecycle destroys the narrative of a long-term, stable asset and creates an endless loop of unrecyclable industrial trash.

A 2024 Nature paper, for example, finds no detectable surge in the rate of global warming beyond the 1970s.

While a William Happer study examines atmospheric radiative transfer and finds additional CO2 produces diminishing warming due to absorption band saturation.

Research by Judith Curry highlights large uncertainties in sea level projections.

While other studies examine solar variability and natural circulation patterns as major climate drivers.

Many papers question climate model reliability and attribution methods that link modern warming to human CO2 emissions.

At the very least, these 300 plus studies show that climate science remains an active field of debate, not the 'settled science' often presented to the public.

The IPCC says snowfall should become less frequent in a warming world. Yet when Japan was buried by record snow in January 2026, the explanation changed. Researchers claimed global warming increased the snowfall.

The storm itself was straightforward: a prolonged surge of Arctic air crossed the Sea of Japan, producing intense snowbands.

Sapporo transport shut down.
Aomori set depth records.
Communities across northern Honshu were buried. And Japan's army was even deployed.

Instead of simply pointing to the cold air outbreak though, researchers at Japan's Meteorological Institute instead ran climate model simulations.

The models concluded warming increased snowfall by about 7%. So the theory now reads: global warming reduces snow, except when it increases snow...

Under this framework, every possible outcome appears to confirm the same conclusion.

The vast, featureless wastes of the Sahara Desert have shrunk by about 8% since the 1980s.

This astonishing recovery is due to rising CO₂ levels, fueling a remarkable global green renaissance. Data from NASA’s AVHRR and MODIS instruments show 25% to 50% of Earth's vegetated lands have become significantly greener—an area equivalent to twice the continental United States that has also spurred a global windfall for agricultural production.

CO₂ fertilisation has driven around 70% of this boom, making green plants far more efficient with water. By reducing the time stomata (leaf pores) stay open, it directly cuts water loss and boosts drought resistance.

This unplanned green miracle has allowed vegetation to reclaim zones of great emptiness in inhospitable places like the Sahel (the Sahara's southern fringe), the Middle East and Australia's sunburned outback desert. It has reclaimed over 700,000 km2 of barren sand waste in the Sahara alone, pushing back the desert in formerly barren terrain.

Atmospheric CO₂ now hovers around 426 ppm, enabling plants to thrive where once they couldn't. This protracted greening shows the clear, measurable benefit from higher levels of CO₂.

When Climate Models Contradict Earth's Climate Reality!

To defend their belief in a coming climate crisis, alarmists cherry-pick which models and which predictions have accurately estimated recent climate change. However, they ignore horrific failures of models that are totally untethered to earth’s real climate over the past 11,000 years, the Holocene (graphic B).

All the proxy evidence argues the earth has been cooling since the Holocene Thermal Maximum (10,000-6,000 years ago) (graphic A), but all model simulations suggest a steady Holocene warming. The failure was due to models being driven by CO2 concentrations which were slightly but steadily rising throughout the Holocene (graphic A). As Liu(2014) stated, “The discrepancy between the cooling trend in data and the warming trend in models reflects the “Holocene Temperature Conundrum”, and demands a critical reexamination of the global annual temperature trend in the Holocene.”

Proxy evidence such as treelines in Sweden, found fossils from 9,000 to 6,000 years ago that had been recently exposed by receding glaciers. Those fossil trees grew 600-700 meters above modern treeline positions, implying summer temperatures were at least 3.6 °C higher than present-day (Kullman 2017). Similarly, “over most of Russia, forests advanced to or near the current arctic coastline between 9000 and 7000 yr B.P. and retreated to its present position by between 4000 and 3000 yr B.P.” That suggested “the mean July temperatures along the northern coastline of Russia may have been 2.5° to 7.0°C warmer than modern” (MacDonald 1999).

Despite such warmer temperatures there was no “ecosystem collapse”, no extinctions, no human suffering that climate alarmist now rant about.

Glacier advances and retreat further support estimates of far warmer temperature during the early Holocene followed by cooling that contrasts with the climate model's warming from increased CO2 ppm. More than 90% of Arctic Glaciers and Ice-Caps (GIC) were smaller than present or absent in the middle Holocene at about 7000–6000 years ago. GICs across the Arctic began to regrow as summers began to cool despite increasing CO2 ppm. “Broadly speaking, summer temperatures in the Arctic appear to have peaked ∼1–3◦C above 20th century averages in the first half of the Holocene” (Larocca 2022).

Climate models reporting increasing temperatures during the Holocene, in contrast to all the proxy data, reveal how much climate models put undue theoretical weight on CO2 concentrations while underestimating important natural variables. As revealed in Liu 2012(graphic B), the atmospheric-ocean climate models are untethered to reality, such that those models are prime examples of GIGO, Garbage In Garbage Out!

With atmospheric CO₂ hovering around 426 ppm, nature is thriving in arid regions once considered inhospitable.

The vegetation is marching back into the some of the world’s harshest desert environments. Earth's biosphere is quietly demonstrating a profound, measurable benefit from higher CO₂. These fringe areas are more resilient and greener, in a world that is also more water-efficient. Fresh green cover is actively reclaiming the fringes of the Sahel (the Sahara’s southern edge), the Middle East and the Australian Outback.

An 8% reduction in the Sahel (the Sahara’s southern edge) since the 1980s means 700,000 square kilometres of formerly barren sand wastes have turned green. This is an exciting real-world reincarnation of James Algar's 1963 epic documentary, 'The Living Desert', filmed in the Sonoran Desert near Tuscon, Arizona.

This is the natural world fighting back. Since 1960, global food production has increased by over 250% to 390% (depending on the index). Most of this is from the Green Revolution—the arrival of fertilisers, tractors and genetics. But atmospheric CO₂ - rising from 315 ppm to 426 ppm - is a silent yet profound tailwind behind every new hectare being harvested.

It's the ultimate irony: that a climate change agenda treated CO₂ as an agent of starvation. Instead, the fundamental biology shows it is still the primary engine of agricultural abundance and drought resilience.
When you break down the plant science, the results are stunning:

* C3 plants (95% of all plant species): Rice, wheat, soybeans and potatoes have increased yields by 30% to over 50%. Their photosynthetic mechanisms are structurally starved at lower baseline levels; extra CO₂ accelerates their growth directly.
* C4 plants: Maize (corn), sorghum and sugarcane have increased yields by up to 10%, alongside massive efficiency gains during dry spells.
* Root and tuber crops: Potatoes and sweet potatoes show explosive underground growth, as their large sinks efficiently store the excess carbohydrates produced by accelerated photosynthesis.

Studies compiled by organisations like the USDA Agricultural Research Service show potato yields increasing by 50% to over 100% under elevated CO₂ when water is abundant. Crucially, this atmospheric enrichment also triggers a 10% to 40% reduction in plant water loss because leaf stomata don't need to open as wide to take in carbon.

CO₂ isn't the code red disaster they warned about - but it is a massive insurance policy for the future of global food security.
