Fostering Transparency!

As a prelude to Vigilance Awareness Week–2026, during the 03-month campaign period from 17th August to 16th November 2026, an interactive meeting was held on 19.08.2026 at PPA, wherein Shri R N Abanikant Parida, CVO, PPA, along with Vigilance Officers, interacted with representatives of Shipping Agents.

The meeting promoted integrity, transparency and ethical practices through meaningful stakeholder engagement, carrying forward the spirit of the VAW-2026 theme, “Probity for Prosperity.” ⚓️

Strengthening Transparency, Empowering Governance

The Vigilance Department of Paradip Port Authority (PPA) conducted a half-day training programme on the RTI Act, 2005 today (08.04.2026).

Shri R.N. Abanikant Parida, CVO, PPA, led an insightful and engaging session with active participation from around 40 officials, including CPIOs, CAPIOs, and Dealing Assistants.

The initiative reinforces PPA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous capacity building.

Visakhapatnam Port Authority marks its first-ever export through the Single Point Mooring (SPM) on 04 March 2026, with the loading of 55 TMT of Basrah Medium Crude of HPCL into MT Swarna Brahmaputra.

The SPM facility, commissioned in 2011 primarily for crude oil discharge, has handled 760 VLCCs and 98.5 MMT of crude oil for @HPCL so far. This first export operation represents a new milestone, showcasing the operational versatility and growing capabilities of VPA’s offshore infrastructure.

Addressing the 3rd Indian Lighthouse Festival, Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW said that the festival is being organised in line with Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of celebrating and revitalising India’s rich maritime heritage.

He also highlighted the enduring significance of lighthouses, noting that despite rapid technological advancements, lighthouses continue to serve as timeless sentinels guiding mariners and ships and remaining integral to safe navigation even in the modern, tech-driven era.

The transformation of India's maritime sector in the past decade under Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji has been historic, guided by the mantra of Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi. Our 205 lighthouses, which stood as silent sentinels for centuries, are now vibrant centres of tourism and the local economy. Lighthouse tourism has surged by nearly 500%, from just 4 lakh annual visitors in 2014 to nearly 20 lakh today.

Andhra Pradesh is a key pillar of our Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. We are committed to the state's prosperity with transformative projects like the National Mega Shipbuilding Cluster and the International Cruise Terminal at Visakhapatnam Port.
