A powerful message that every single person should hear. Immigrants are not only having their rights, but also their dignity stripped from them. The world is crumbling under the lack of empathy and love in our societies. We need more leaders like Zack ❤️
The BBC’s silly and unnecessary editing mistake does not change the FACT that Trump encouraged and inspired the violence that led to death and devastation on Jan 6 after he LOST the election. That should be made clear in all communications to his Mafia style lawyers and to the public. He has zero case and that should be communicated with absolute confidence, with the full and voluble backing of 🇬🇧government. And all those who are encouraging and exhorting a foreign felon leader to take down one of Britain’s greatest institutions should never have the gall to call themselves patriots again. Thank you for your attention to this matter
You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 19.34 ESV
There’s a lot of anger at people arriving in small boats.
The assumption is they’re the reason we’re struggling with housing, that they cost the taxpayer a fortune, or that they’re treated better than everyone else.
None of this is true.
1️⃣ Housing: About 36,800 people crossed the Channel in small boats last year. Meanwhile, 1.33 million households are on the social housing waiting list. The housing crisis is about scale and supply, not small boats.
2️⃣ Costs: The asylum system costs around £5.4 billion a year. That sounds big until you compare it to the UK’s £303 billion welfare bill. Asylum support is less than 2% of total welfare spending.
3️⃣ Crime: Despite headlines, studies show asylum seekers are no more likely—and in some cases less likely—to be convicted than the general population. Isolated cases grab attention, but they don’t reflect the whole picture.
👉 The UK does face big challenges in housing, welfare, and justice. But blaming small-boat arrivals—tens of thousands of people in a nation of nearly 70 million—simply doesn’t match the evidence.
In which, as Christians on the left of politics, we dare to have an opinion on the biggest social policy change in a generation. Proud of the work, grace and good disagreement that went into this.
Very sorry to hear of the resignation of the Archbishop of Canterbury - I have worked with him for a long time and have always been struck by his humility, openness, care and sense of public service.
