Messi should have played his natural game of a Striker the way Maradona was playing. Throughout the match Spain were attacking and Argentina went on the backfoot of defending. Excellent substitute changes by Spanish coach in the second half by bringing two forwards further strengthen the attack. Finally Spain succeeded in the 106 minutes extra half time. Argentina goalkeeper has saved nearly 3 or more goals through excellent goalkeeping. I feel what went against Argentina was the defensive approach right from start of match. They should have adopted the counter-counter attack strategy similar to 6-4 victory of England against France for the bronze (third spot) medal.
