آکسفورڈ یونین ڈیبیٹ میں بحث کا آغاز ایک طالبعلم کے ذریعے موضوع کے تعارف سے ہوتا ��ے۔ میرے مخالف بحث کا آغاز ایک پی ٹی آئی کے حامی طالبعلم اسد نے کیا جو کہ عمران خان کو چانسلر بنانے کی ناکام مہم چلا چکا ��ھا۔ اس نے پاکستان کو ایک بدمعاش ریاست کے طور پر پیش کیا اور عمران خان کو لبرل جمہوریت کا چیمپئن بنا کر یہ تاثر دیا کہ انہیں انتقام کا نشانہ بنایا جا رہا ہے۔ افسوس کی بات ہے کہ پی ٹی آئی کے حامی اپنے لیڈر کی کرپشن کا دفاع کرنے کے لیے بین الاقوامی فورمز پر اپنے ہی ملک کو بدنام کر رہے ہیں۔

میں نے تقریر کے آغاز سے قبل پی ٹی آئی کے حامی کے دلائل کا جواب دیا اور پی ٹی آئی کا بیانیہ جھاگ کی طرح بیٹھ کو زمین بوس ہو گیا میں نے کہا کہ:
•کیا عمران خان لبرل جمہوریت کی علامت ہیں یا طالبان جمہوریت کی؟ کیونکہ وہ طالبان کے نظریے کے دلدادہ ہیں۔
•کس ملک میں سپریم کورٹ کی جانب سے ماورائے آئین اقدام کے مرتکب مجرم کو لبرل جمہوریت کی علامت تسلیم کیا جائے گا؟
• کیا ایسا شخص جس کی سیاست فقط نفرت کو فرو�� دینا اور مذہب کے کارڈ سے کھیلنا ہو جسکا ثبوت میں کھڑا ہوں جس پر اسکے نتیجے میں قاتلانہ حملہ ہوا اور اس کی گولی میرے پیٹ میں موجود مجھے روزانہ عمران خان کے لبرل ازم کی یاد دلاتی ہے؟
•کیا برطانیہ میں کوئی وزیراعظم قومی خزانے سے 190 ملین پاؤنڈ تو کجا 90 پاؤنڈ بھی چوری کر کے لبرل جمہوریت کی علامت بن سکتا ہے یا اسے ہمیشہ کے لیے کرپٹ قرار دے کر سیاست کو خیر باد کہلوا دیا جائیگا؟ جمہوریت میں ایسے بددیانت شخص کو کرپٹ کہا جاتا ہے، نہ کہ لبرل جمہوریت کی علامت۔

ایوان نے تالیاں بجا کر اس مؤقف کو سراہا اور ہم نے یہ ڈیبیٹ 145 کے مقابلے میں 184 ووٹوں سے جیت لی۔

Pakistan today is far more stable, resilient, and secure than the state in which Mr. Imran Khan left it in April 2022—teetering on the brink of economic default. Inflation, which had soared to 38%, has now dropped to below 4%, the policy rate has been reduced from 23% to 12%, and the stock market index has surged from 42,000 to a historic high of 115,000. Additionally, Pakistan’s international credit ratings have seen significant improvement, reflecting growing investor confidence.

A strong economy is the foundation of national stability and security. Unfortunately, Imran Khan’s tenure was marked by economic mismanagement, political instability, and a revolving door of five Finance Ministers in just four years. His reckless and vindictive politics severely damaged the economy, but through responsible governance and sound economic policies, Pakistan is now back on the path to progress and prosperity.
