My favorite @elonmusk quote that I often send friends:
Do not fear losing. “You will lose,” Musk says. “It will hurt the first fifty times. When you get used to losing, you will play each game with less emotion.” You will be more fearless, take more risks.
So much for “One Country, One Law.”
If every citizen is equal before the law, why is the Government/ President @anuradisanayake now moving towards creating a separate mechanism to discipline Buddhist monks?
Are monks outside the jurisdiction of the ordinary courts and legal system of Sri Lanka? If not, why is there a need for a special structure with separate authority?
Who will sit in these bodies?Who appoints them? What safeguards exist to ensure independence, transparency, and accountability?Or is this simply another political exercise designed to shield certain individuals from the consequences of the general law?
And if one religious community is granted a special disciplinary mechanism, what happens when Catholics, Hindus, Muslims, or any other faith demand the same? Can a country function with parallel systems of justice based on religion?
This is exactly how dangerous precedents begin.
The issue here is not Buddhism. Buddhism must be respected and protected. But respect for religion cannot mean weakening the principle of equality before the law.
Sri Lanka cannot preach equality on political stages and then create exceptions when it becomes politically convenient.
Leadership is about consistency, not populism. You cannot campaign on “One Country, One Law” and then selectively move towards separate legal structures when pressured.
Why is everyone silent?
Why are the same people who screamed about equality before the law suddenly afraid to question this?
Why are all political parties and politicians silent?
A nation governed by emotion, selective outrage, and political convenience will never build true rule of law
If anyone missed it, yesterday was a blockbuster day for the Easter attack investigation in court.
The story now is not one of intelligence failure but of state intelligence nurturing, protecting and materially supporting individuals connected to the attacks.
So... the buck seems to be very much pointed at Suresh Sallay and I hope he is on "suicide" watch.

On 12 July 2024 COPF presented its report to @ParliamentLK on the e-visa scam. In that report we found massive #data breaches and lack of data #protection. See Report at https://t.co/pZdg0f17hK… 3.5 the issue that triggered termination of the contract. Our urgent recommendation is in 5.2. No one knows what happened to #KMPG audit that was promised. Plus the JVP/NPP vowed to take action against those who wasted billions of public funds immediately. But till today, 03 May 2026 they have done absolutely nothing. The case referred to in the @TimesOnlineLK is the FR petition filed by COPF members @MASumanthiran@pcranawaka and @Rauff_Hakeem and nothing to with the @anuradisanayake government. This IS the reality.
This is really sad💔
Saw this post by @Chaththa_R . At least the Sri Lanka Air Force (which Rumesh represents) was present to welcome him, but not a single mainstream media outlet was present. This is not how you treat your current best athlete👇
Satan got Adam and Eve to focus on one fruit when God had given them a whole garden. That's how he works. He gets you to focus on that one thing you don't have. Instead of all the blessings you do have.
Trust that God knows what you need, and will supply it when you need it.
A parasite that has been eating people for 3,500 years is about to be wiped off the planet. It infected 3.5 million people in 1986. Last year, it infected 10. And I have not seen it make a single front page.
It is called Guinea worm. You drink contaminated water from a pond in a poor village. A year later, a worm up to three feet long starts coming out of your leg through a burning blister. There is no pill that stops it and no surgery that works. You wrap the worm around a stick and pull it out slowly, over days or weeks, inch by inch. If you rush, the worm breaks inside you and causes a fresh infection.
Guinea worm is ancient. Preserved worms have been pulled out of Egyptian mummies from around 1000 BCE. The Ebers Papyrus, an Egyptian medical scroll from 1550 BCE, describes pulling the worm out with a stick. For three and a half thousand years, that was the best humans could do.
Then in 1986, public health workers decided to kill the parasite off. They had no vaccine and no drug. What they had was cheap cloth water filters and a small army of volunteers willing to walk from village to village for decades.
The plan was simple. Give everyone who drinks from a pond a cloth filter to strain out the tiny water fleas that spread the parasite. Then send volunteers walking house to house, year after year, teaching people how to use the filters and keeping anyone with an emerging worm out of the water.
It worked. From 3.5 million cases a year to 10. Four were in Chad, four in Ethiopia, two in South Sudan. The other four countries where the worm used to be common, Angola, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Mali, had zero human cases for the second year in a row. The World Health Organization has already certified 200 countries as Guinea worm free. Six are left.
The last hurdle is dogs. Cameroon had 445 infected animals last year and Chad had 147, so a lot of the remaining work is on animals, not humans. Strays get leashed, and crews treat ponds to kill any remaining worms. The campaign keeps watching until the number hits zero.
When Guinea worm hits zero, it becomes the second human disease ever erased from the planet. The first was smallpox. It will also be the first parasite humans have ever wiped out, and the first disease ever ended without a single dose of medicine. Volunteers walked village to village with cloth filters for 40 years. Now a plague from the age of the pharaohs is about to be gone.
Christian kids are being sold as slaves in the Congo.
Some are just 4 years old, sold as sex slaves or to cobalt mines by Islamist groups and smugglers.
Where is the UN?
Where is the Left?
Where is Hollywood?

Bahrain has submitted a draft UN Security Council resolution that would allow nations to voluntarily commit to a naval coalition that would secure passage for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. It’s likely that’s China and Russia will veto the measure.
Per the draft:
“The Security Council authorizes Member States, acting nationally or through voluntary multinational naval partnerships, for which advance notification has been provided to the Security Council, to use all necessary means, in and around the Strait of Hormuz, including within the territorial waters of littoral States within or bordering the Strait of Hormuz, to secure transit passage and to repress, neutralize, and deter attempts to close, obstruct, or otherwise interfere with international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, until such time as the Council decides otherwise.”
Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada spoke about the contradictions of human nature:
“Some people dream of having a swimming pool at home, while those who have one hardly ever use it. Those who have lost a loved one feel a profound sense of loss, while others often complain about their living relatives. Those without a partner long for one, while those who have one often don't appreciate it. The hungry would give anything for a meal, while the satiated complain about the taste of their food. Those without a car dream of owning one, while those who have a car are always looking for a better one.”
The key to happiness is gratitude: truly seeing and appreciating what we already have, and understanding that somewhere, someone would give anything for what we take for granted.
If you're 40.
Instead of regretting that you can't wake up at age 20 again, pretend to yourself that you're 90, and you've woken up at age 40 again, and that you get to magically, wonderfully have the next 50 years again.
