Having thr best time at #NBOLitfest#Nairobi
An insightful evening at the launch of 'Slow Poison' by Prof. Mahmood Mamdani today at the Jain Auditorium, Nairobi.
The conversation traversed questions of homeland and belonging, the making of new & political identities, power and leadership, fragmentation, tribalization, decolonisation & many more. It was a rich and unsettling dialogue, one that invites deep reflection on how we understand community, history, politics and the present moment.
Slow Poison, looking forward to reading the book. I reckon will be unputdownable.

Stepped into @PrestigeNBI in town to get my copy of Brothers in Arms signed by @njorogep himself.
This collection of his speeches from various occasions through his term, Technical comms directed at Finance peeps & the general public has been an interesting read thus far
For those who need tribe to grasp any and every person; phenomenon; perspective; perception; pathway; plan, please finish the year with Mahmood Mamdani’s treatise “Slow Poison”.
May our thoughts in the coming quarter century transcend all narrow and oppressive prisms.
Reading Patrick Njoroge’s book slowly, with real appreciation. There is clarity, restraint, and integrity on every page. I am deeply honoured to be acknowledged, and I look forward to having my copy signed.@njorogep

Immediate former CBK Governor Dr. Patrick Njoroge (@njorogep) has a book out!
It is framed as an insider account of the tensions between central bankers and the financial sector.
Hopefully, it goes beyond theory and sheds light on the 2022–23 dollar shortage, his handling of bank failures during his tenure, the long-running battles with "the pink paper", the 2016 interest rate caps and more.
.@njorogep shares defining moments from his leadership of CBK , showing how central banks can & must communicate with courage, clarity, and care to advance stability and inclusion—lessons from the front lines of Kenya’s dynamic financial transformation.” @Lagarde

Meja Mwangi was a shape-shifter.
He carried the Kenyan novel beyond rural colonial life to urban postcolonial existence.
Soon, Meja turned to film to reach more audiences.
Then, as HIV/AIDS stilled many tongues, Meja unpacked our fears in “The Last Plague” (2000).
