Yesterday,we were at Gishwati-Mukura National Park for the Tourism Revenue Sharing engagement with @RDBrwanda, district leaders,security organs and community representatives to review proposed community projects. We shared our perspective on using these resources to strengthen livelihoods,support conservation and enable communities to thrive without putting pressure on the park, demonstrating our commitment to empowering the community and safeguarding the @Gishwati_Mukura National Park for generations to come.

We’ve been honored to participate in the Peer to Peer Landscape Learning Exchange in the Lake Kivu & Rusizi landscape made possible by @WorldResources . PBC joined restoration champions from across Rwanda to strengthen our technical skills, foster inclusive community engagement and build lasting collaboration. Through hands on field demonstrations, mentorship and interactive sessions, we formed mentor mentee pairs, co-created action plans and produced knowledge resources.

This week has challenged and inspired us,turning lessons into action to advance restoration, livelihoods, and conservation.Follow our journey as we turn lessons into lasting impact.

We brought together the #InshutizaMukura group in Rutsiro with RDB&GMNP for training farmers receiving livestock through the PBC&GMNP Livelihood Project.Each farmer gets a pig and shelter materials to help former poachers build livelihoods andsupport Mukura Landscape conservation

During Umuganda in Rubavu, we are officially launching the 2025 tree planting season under Nurturing Indigenous Trees and Young Minds in Rubavu and Rutsiro, with a target of 140,000 trees to restore degraded landscapes and promote indigenous species. The Director of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Unit for Rubavu District emphasized the importance of active participation from everyone while the Executive Director of PBC reminded us that planting is good, but growing them is the real goal.

Work is underway in @Gishwati_Mukura National Park as Prime Biodiversity Conservation teams conduct an assessment under the Nurturing Indigenous Trees and Young Minds project. The team is mapping restoration areas and documenting plant species to guide Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) efforts aimed at restoring degraded land and supporting the park’s long-term ecological recovery.

Over the past week, we visited Rutsiro and Rubavu Districts as part of our ongoing project, Nurturing Indigenous Trees and Young Minds through Landscape Restoration in Rubavu and Rutsiro. During our visits, we met with local leaders to coordinate the 2025 tree planting season and toured key fields to identify priority planting sites. These engagements strengthen collaboration with authorities and communities as we work together to promote indigenous and agroforestry species and support livelihoods across the regions.

On the International Rural Women’s Day,we came together to plant trees for a greener Kigali and to rightfully celebrate an inspiring figure of strength and the women who nurture and uplift our communities everyday.Special thanks to @edencaremedical for being part of this moment.

Today, PBC took part in a Regional Training Workshop on Integrated Landscape Restoration, organized by @ARCOSNetwork under the KiRuCaRe Project. The workshop empowers local actors to restore degraded landscapes, nurture biodiversity, promote sustainable agriculture and agroforestry, foster community ownership, manage projects effectively, and mobilize lasting resources. Through hands on training and knowledge exchange, participants are equipped to harmonize restoration efforts, strengthen socio-ecological resilience, and create thriving, climate resilient communities across the region.

Today in Rutsiro, Prime Biodiversity Conservation proudly launched it’s partnership with @Gishwati_Mukura in collaboration with @RDBrwanda. Through the Conservation of Gishwati–Mukura National Park and Biosphere Reserve programme , we’re focusing on assisted natural regeneration, community livelihood support, scientific research, and law enforcement for the protection of the park.Celebrated this new chapter while honoring the collective efforts that have shaped the park’s restoration journey. Excited to have brought together @RDBrwanda and @Gishwati_Mukura team for an insightful workshop presenting Prime Biodiversity Conservation’s Work Plan for Gishwati-Mukura National Park🌿
The workshop focused on aligning efforts to protect and restore this vital ecosystem. A key priority we highlighted was community centered conservation-empowering local communities to actively participate in restoration, benefit from green livelihoods, and help shape long-term stewardship of the park.
