@allisonperryart Yeah it’s different in a lower COL area like you said. I’ve lived in Michigan all my life and my partner and I made a combined $92k a year before taxes when we bought our house. We don’t live a life of luxury but we have hobbies and pets and are comfy. Def not LA wages tho!

@allisonperryart I put less than 20% down on my house, but my house was $144k in a big city in Michigan. Obviously a much different situation than LA. Our housing payment + PMI + insurance and property taxes is around $1250/month. We also took advantage of a first time homeowners grant.

A lot of shops will price everything a dollar or two higher at all sizes to make up the difference in cost. That way there’s no ‘fat tax’ but the increase is negligible to most consumers
