@hunterlanier Cool. But school of hard knocks teaches harder. There will be crashes and broken things- part of it. I wish the simulator would let you screw up and explode on screen, or charge you $50 automatically for breaking a bit. That would learn you. ;)
@piit79@RainMotorsports@3DPrintopia I have the very first LC prototype base. That’s it. I gave almost everything away until my wife put her foot down (gently). The ones I kept still do useful work tho.
@RainMotorsports@3DPrintopia Cool! I used mine today to make parts for a new printer I’m working on ;) It needs some tlc, but the two parts I designed and printed will bring life to the new one.
@WeShallPai@MakerFaireOC I’m on board for the simplified kits for kids. Learning the basics and how stuff works is invaluable. It’s like programming. You have to learn how the hardware works to be a force. The world is changing tho. Ai lets you skip steps. Probly not a good thing.
Maybe it’s time to let go. Moving to Indiana… Fishers area. Grandkids are calling. Who’s in charge of the Printrbot museum archive? cause it should NOT be me. ;) yes, some work. Yes, some don’t. And No, it’s not all of it. <sigh>
@Afro3dP Dude. Funny how me and my wife still remember emails and screen names from early backers and customers. Burned into our memories ;) all my best.
@IBUKImAsToRe3D Email is brook@printrbot. Laine (the designer of the board) should do an updated version…. He went on to work for Tesla.. he contributed low level firmware stuff to the cybertruck’s simplified wiring stuff. Great guy. Wildly talented.
@MidwestRRfest I’m a story teller, for sure. I’m down for it. My stories seem like ancient history, tho. I guess someone needs to share the history. Old man, walkin!
@VAT_Engineering Yeah, I know there are haters. I shipped tens of thousands. Almost zero failures due to manufacturing, tho. Seriously. I maintain that it is the best and cannot be improved upon in its current form. Known only to me, sadly. A lot of fancy stuff out there. But simple is best. ;)
@joshuartaylor I should publish the extruder to GitHub. It uses a bondtech dual gear thing you can print. And a geared motor. But you may have to mod it for whatever hotend you want. I only use my old friend Carl Ubis hotends. Never found better. Not sexy, they just perform.
@joshuartaylor That’s the very issue my wife showed me that started it all…. I read it over and over…. Saved up the money for months then ordered my cupcake. I met all 3 founders at one event (thanks Dale). Liked them all. Wild stories there. Grateful.
@joshuartaylor Where are you located? I am about to cross the whole country or close to it. you can email me at [email protected] still. I know… I’m doxing myself. But it’s out there. I check it once a week and suck at replies. :)
@joshuartaylor This one was what started it all for me… printed like crap, but it printed. First thing I designed printed on this… funny now that Bre is a friend. The Prusa Mendel was superior… he’s a friend too. So grateful for the whole ball o wax. Good times!
@joshuartaylor The OLD stuff, ya. But I’ve made some new “GearHead” style extruders for a 3mm version of a powerful Ubis hotend … working on finishing a printer for prosthetics… it will be 3mm (2.85mm) in its final form for fast check socket prints
