There just was—and still might be—a big kitty in the Voyageurs area! Footage from 4 days ago (Oct 25) in the Marion/Franklin Lake area.

Appears to be a male as the kitty's 'family jewels' seem visible. Most cougars traveling through Minnesota and the Great Lakes region are thought to be young dispersing males. This one appears to be a hunk...

The sheer number of different bears on this trail the past summer is amazing (>20-30 different bears?)! This is the only wildlife trail we have found in our area that consistently has this kind of bear activity.

We pulled the SD card on this camera yesterday so this is hot off the press! We thought it was super cool and wanted to share as we figured folks would enjoy it as well.

Oh, and bears aren’t the only animals using the trail as you can see...

The wolves in the video are members of the Whiskey Point Pack and most footage is of the breeding male (bigger wolf missing top of right ear), the breeding female, and two yearlings.

Most of these wolves look really thin, with their pelvis clearly visible. Summer— late summer in particular— is the leanest time of the year for wolves, and these wolves’ bodies are evidence of that.
