@NigeriaStories Why introduce another identification number when the NIN already exists? The real issue isn’t the lack of an ID, but the lack of vision. Instead of creating new identifiers and wasting resources, the focus should be on implementing and integrating the NIN properly in the sector.
An Uber driver from Iran told me a story that changed my life.
Uber drivers have always been a great part of my learning. It is an education worth 100x the Uber fee.
We started the conversation and I asked him about the most powerful lesson he carried from home.
He told me a famous story attributed to Imam Ali (Ali ibn Abi Talib).
When he was the 4th Caliph, a visitor came to see him at night.
Imam Ali asked one question before the conversation even started:
"Is this a public matter… or your personal matter?"
The man replied it is a personal matter.
Imam Ali switched off the lamp, and put on another lamp.
The visitor was confused and asked why.
Imam Ali said, "that lamp was paid for with public funds. This one is paid for with my own money."
How many present day leaders would even notice which lamp is which?
