.@twkelly_EDU: “While our lawmakers are debating amongst themselves, there are real impacts that a budget delay has on our school districts. We worry that students are walking into classrooms without an educator present to lead instruction.”#ncED https://t.co/sPuNXCjVrC
Last week, NCAE Vice President Bryan Proffitt sat down for a conversation with @RebbyKern of @EqualityNC to discuss the impact of recent legislation on LGBTQ+ kids, families, and our public-school communities.

This isn’t complicated. Teachers just want to teach without going broke or having to drive Uber on the weekends.
But State Superintendent @CTruittNCDPI and her partners would have you believe the reason NC can’t attract teachers is lack of advancement opportunities. #nced#ncpol
#nced Fam, we should all be paying attention to Truitt's Legislative Agenda, including this highlighted line and her remarks today. This is foreboding language that sets the scene for Election 2024. #nced
@traceyebarrett Kids don’t actually get to read the whole Dream speech either. Just want to put in a plug that it is elegant and visionary and a gorgeous example of a public love ethic that he led with better than anyone we’ve ever seen. Super excited about your class.
Good morning, Twitter Fam! Team @ncae is here this morning at the Senate Health Committee meeting, which will take up discussion around Senate Bill 49 (misleadingly called Parents' Bill of Rights). #nced
Governor Jim Hunt withdraws from coalition touting merit pay for North Carolina teachers https://t.co/KJKbd03a1E via @ChalkboardNotes#nced#ncpol#ncga#pepsc 🍎🙏
@aangel362@twkelly_EDU@proffitt_bryan Have you signed and shared our #ExperienceMatters4NC petition to support policies that ensure every child has a highly qualified teacher? Let us know AND tag 5 people who should sign it: https://t.co/nC8YVNxMMB
North Carolina’s kids deserve the best teachers in their classroom every day. Just pay, good working conditions, and respect will ensure that. Not privatization and deprofessionalizing schemes.

The future of our state, and the future of our children depends on what we do right now. #experiencematters4nc Sign & spread the word: https://t.co/nC8YVNxMMB
Hey @nckhui, I fixed it for you 👇🏼 PLEASE stop reporting this as if all parents want schools entirely reopened. MANY parents understand the need for caution and the impossible position @wcpss is facing. Do better, @newsobserver.
A few days ago Union County Superintendent @AGHoulihan agreed to meet with local educators to hear their questions and concerns around school reopening. Educators wanted to meet virtually for safety, but at his insistence they agreed to a face to face meeting. #nced
He didn’t show up.
Tomorrow Union County educators are holding a Drive to Stay Alive to call for Plan C until it’s safer and to ask their superintendent *again* to meet with them.
That’s what a good leader would do in a time of crisis. #nced
