A friend of mine works for the @thepwhlofficial. He got this pic on the ice last night. The absolute GOAT of women’s hockey getting her championship. Great moment for women’s sport and Canadian sport.
In 2024, I had the privilege of visiting the Canadian Museum for Human Rights ( @CMHR_News ). For me, nothing was more powerful than the #RedDress exhibit for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Wearing red today as a small act to raise awareness. #MMIWG
@ScoutingTheRefs Having a hard time figuring how the on-ice officials in EDM-ANA game came to initial decision that the puck crossed the line. Brenk(?) doesn’t see it and can’t fathom anyone from anywhere else on the ice could see it. Thoughts? Imagine review was inconclusive?
@wyshynski@ESPNRefNHL@ESPNRefNHL Can you shed light on this? Can’t actually see the puck over the line. Does the NHL use any tech to superimpose the puck through the skate to confirm? Trace their finger on the screen? I’m convinced puck is over the line, but there is no angle clearly showing that.
@SPORT_Lab25@HudderAlly Another sport officiating study coming out of the @SPORT_Lab25! This is run by a Master's student (Ally) and uses eye-tracking glasses to explore ice hockey officials' decision-making. Data collection is in-person. Please share widely: @hockeynl1935@HkyNL_Officials.
@_SCAPPS Heartbreaking news. I had the good fortune of knowing Katherine for 15 years, both as an Exec for @_SCAPPS and as a colleague. In recent years, I shared many conference meals with her, and will treasure those memories.

@hockeynl1935 I enjoyed the section on officiating development and the recommendation to include an experienced official with newer ones. There are many officials who work high-level hockey (JR/SR) in NL who would be willing to do 1-2 AA/AAA games a month to help develop younger officials.
@hockeynl1935 This was an interesting read. Nice to see a recommendation that included #mentalskills#sportpsychology as part of athlete development. With two CMPCs in NL (https://t.co/wBBdkNGgiJ), we have limited resources to offer this widely, but it can still be done on a small scale.
🚨🚨New publication alert!! Project led by Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Pereira Vargas in the @SPORT_Lab25. This is a scoping review on sport officials' anxiety, stress, and coping: https://t.co/SrJvbrXWnm. It's open access, so have a read! #sportofficials#referee
