Sometimes when I go to events my wife comes with me. If the @MailOnline get hold of pictures they put it on their website and hundreds of comments tear my wife to pieces. She’s never thrust herself forward or courted attention in any way. I don’t know if the comments are real or written by the mail. Or by bots. But I do know it’s cyber bullying. And mysoginist. And I think it may be in some way the business model of the @MailOnline . Monetising unkindness.
On paying Signal's engineers more than herself:
"If the servers go down, I need a guy with a pager to get up in the middle of the fucking night and be on that screen, diagnosing whatever the problem is, until that is fixed." https://t.co/wrURRL8VoZ
Goldsmiths has agreed to: no compulsory redundancies for those remaining at risk; no compulsory redundancies in 2024-25 for all staff; holding the associate lecturer budget; working with the union to deliver on mutually agreed equality and diversity issues.
If your job cuts have made it to the front page of the Sunday Times, I’d suggest @GoldsmithsUoL that you need a new strategy. How about opening the books, sitting down properly with the unions, lobbying government to change a failed system & not sacking some of your best assets?
Bit unfortunate for Lewis Dunk to be one of the three outfield players in the England squad without any game time, but he is still having the experience of his career in Germany.
Nice touch at the end, quick to console club colleague Bart Verbruggen.

Mainstream media coverage of the general election has been characterised by two things: a disproportionate amount of interest in Nigel Farage & Reform UK and an equal lack of interest in scrutinising power and addressing key issues of the day #Election2024 https://t.co/rh2nwOCqw6
"If you’ve never read Kafka before or if you already love him, you’ll still want Harman’s Kafka: Selected Stories."
Michael Dirda pays tribute to the writer who got us all saying Kafkaeque in @washingtonpost.

Meta's chief AI scientist admits that machines "do not understand the physical world, do not have persistent memory, cannot reason in any reasonable definition of the term and cannot plan . . . hierarchically". All in all, an existential threat to humanity https://t.co/TcGDVD6d5E
'Contrary to the claims, conventions and culture of television journalism, the news is not a neutral product. For television news is a cultural artefact; it is a sequence of socially manufactured messages, which carry many of the culturally dominant assumptions of our society.'
Outrageous that @PulitzerPrizes names New York Times & Reuters but not a single Palestinian journalist in this 'accolade'. Talks about 'horrific conditions' but no mention of the number of journalists killed by Israeli forces or the heroism of individual Palestinian reporters
