‼️ UPDATE: Volkswagen has now confirmed the app block. VW told German outlet heise it cut off custom ROM users, including GrapheneOS, LineageOS, and /e/OS, from its app after tying it to Google's Play Integrity API.

The app still works on years-old Android phones with no security patches, but not on a fully updated GrapheneOS.

Pressure from Volkswagen customers on them can achieve the same thing. There's no legitimate reason to ban GrapheneOS so they'll undo it with pressure.

Leave a 1 star review for Volkswagen's apps on the Play Store asking them to stop banning GrapheneOS. Explain it's a far more secure operating system and fully possible for them to verify the hardware, OS and their app on it if they insist on doing it. It's far more secure than anything they allow.

Google has misled companies about what the Play Integrity API provides. It doesn't genuinely enforce having a secure device or legitimate app, it only pretends to. It leaves huge security holes open. It enforces Google's business interests and bans having a reasonably secure device with GrapheneOS.

Most companies are unlikely to stop using the Play Integrity API but most are willing to start permitting GrapheneOS via hardware attestation with enough pressure.

In addition to every user of their app on GrapheneOS leaving a 1 star review on the Play Store, multiple other steps can be taken too.

Every GrapheneOS user with one of their cars using the app should file a customer support request. Keep answering them and countering the template responses. Escalate the request higher up. Tell them you want money back for the vehicle due to reduced functionality after the fact and insist on it.

They can trivially stop enforcing the anti-security and anti-competitive Play Integrity API or easily add hardware-based verification of GrapheneOS. Link to https://t.co/KC7xS0Nobe in the customer support request, but don't add any links to Play Store reviews to avoid filtering.

A bunch of apps have added explicit support for GrapheneOS due to pressure from our users. Our userbase is rapidly growing and we'll gain the ability to apply massive pressure to companies doing this. We plan to ship a feature for our Info app for people to opt-in to getting asked for their help.

GrapheneOS is production quality OS from a non-profit paying around 15 people to work on it. It's far more secure than anything supported by the Play Integrity API. We have an official partnership with Motorola and we'll have more. Just counter template responses and insist on compensation or a fix.

Google shipped an out-of-band update to droidguard breaking using RCS with sandboxed Google Play. We've already fixed it and it will be included in the OS release we're making later today (2026062300). That will likely be our first Android 17 to reach our Stable channel.

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.

The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.

This is what the UK spyware proposal means.

There must be government spyware on every mobile device. It shall watch everything that happens, including always watching the screen, looking for things the government disapproves of.

When anything is flagged by the software as something the government doesn't like, the software must block it from being sent or displayed (in realtime).

The user of the device must not be able to shut this watching and blocking off. The only way to shut it off would be to ask the government or its proxies to do so for you, at their discretion.

Therefore the whole device must be locked down. Administrator rights and the decision of what software or operating system to run or not to run must be taken from the owner/user and handed to the government and its proxies.

Apple and Google are themselves working hard to lock down the devices they are involved in to shut out competition and establish a duopoly.

The UK government says it is "working closely" with Apple and Google and currently they synchronise and coordinate their communication on this subject.

The UK government is now proposing to mandate what would otherwise be illegal anti-competitive practices.

The greatest trick governments ever pulled was convincing people that freedom and privacy are obstacles to safety.

What we are witnessing is not child protection. It is the construction of a surveillance architecture that will eventually monitor, profile, categorize and control every aspect of our digital lives.

Today it is age verification and content scanning, tomorrow it is digital identity, then financial monitoring, then behavioural scoring, then access to services conditioned on compliance.

The destination is not difficult to see. It is a technocratic system where every interaction is tracked, every transaction recorded, every opinion assessed and every citizen reduced to a data profile managed by governments and corporations working hand in hand.

A form of digital neo feudalism where a small unelected class controls the platforms, the infrastructure, the money and ultimately the boundaries of acceptable behaviour.

The argument that only criminals should fear surveillance is as absurd as saying only criminals need freedom of speech. Privacy is not evidence of wrongdoing, it is the foundation of human dignity, individual sovereignty and genuine liberty.

The UK government is asking citizens to accept the presumption of guilt simply to communicate online. To prove who they are, verify their age and allow their devices to inspect their content before they can participate in modern society.

History teaches us that every power granted to the state eventually expands beyond its initial mandate. The technology introduced to detect one form of content today will be used to police entirely different forms of expression tomorrow.

The choice before us is not between privacy and child protection, it is between preserving a free society, or constructing the infrastructure of a digital prison that will further enslave us.

Elle visait les entreprises proposant des services privés comme :
- Les VPN
- Les e-mails chiffrés
- Les messageries sécurisées

1. Demander une pièce d’identité à chaque nouvel utilisateur (passeport ou permis de conduire)... Plus possible de s’inscrire sans donner son vrai nom !

2. Garder les données des utilisateurs pendant 6 mois (adresse IP, quand on se connecte, etc)

3. Pouvoir déchiffrer les messages ou données si la police le demande !!

Proton (l’entreprise suisse qui fait @ProtonMail et @ProtonVPN) a dit clairement : "Cette loi est pire que celle des États-Unis"

Résultat Proton a commencé à déplacer une partie de ses serveurs hors de Suisse !! (en Allemagne notamment) par précaution.
Mais l’entreprise reste basée en Suisse pour le moment

Ensuite beaucoup de monde s’est opposé à cette loi (d’autres entreprises, des associations et des politiciens)

ILe gouvernement suisse a donc revu sa copie et a atténué le projet !

- La version la plus sévère de la loi n’a pas été appliquée

- Proton a quand même commencé à diversifier ses serveurs !

- La réputation de la Suisse comme pays qui protège bien la vie privée a pris un coup

La surveillance de masse n'est qu'une question de temps ⏳
