The presiding deity of Tirumala is Sri Venkateswara Swamy. The name Venkateswara is traditionally explained as:
Vem – sin (pāpa)
Kata – destroyer
Eshwara – the Supreme Lord (Parameshwara)
Thus, Venkateswara means “the Supreme Lord who destroys sins.”
There is also a traditional verse associated with the practice of offering one’s hair:
मेरुमन्दरतुल्यानि पापानि विविधानि च ।
केशानाश्रित्य तिष्ठन्ति तस्मात् केशान् वपाम्यहम् ॥
Meaning: “Various sins, as great as Mount Meru and Mount Mandara, are said to reside in one’s hair. Therefore, I shave and offer my hair as an act of purification.”
This is one of the traditional explanations for offering hair at Tirumala:
Lord Venkateswara once sustained an injury to His head, leaving a small bald patch. Seeing this, Neela Devi compassionately offered a portion of her own hair to cover it. Deeply moved by her selfless sacrifice, the Lord declared that all hair offered by devotees at Tirumala would be accepted as an offering to Neela Devi and would bring blessings to the devotees.

#WATCH | Ranchi, Jharkhand | A class 12th student, Sarthak Sidhant, says, “…I have written a blog that compares the tender documents of CBSE. I have uploaded and published it… There were at least 15 discrepancies, as per my blog. I would like to highlight three or four of them. Let me give a background about Coempt. It was known as Globarena, and they have a very shady background. 23 students killed themselves because of coempt… Now, I would like to tell you about RFP (Request for Proposal). What happens is the government issues a tender and asks the bidder to bid for it. CBSE issued this tender three times… I have compared the old RFP and the new RFP, and I found some discrepancies… The first discrepancy is that there were three clauses of poor performances which was completely wiped out from the new RFP. In the earlier RFP, there was a clause called blacklisted earlier, whereas in the new RFP, it was changed to blacklisted currently. Why would the board want a service provider which was blacklisted earlier? The third thing I found out is the 50 crore limit, which you needed to qualify, and coempt qualified that by 1.7% … The time frame of corrupt practices was halved, and there were project criteria changes… It shows a pattern that the industry giant TCS was not preferred, but coempt was preferred, which works as a very fragmented group of institutions…”
Greeks consume 24 liters of olive oil per person per year. Americans consume 1. That ratio explains this photo better than genetics.
Extra virgin olive oil contains over 30 phenolic compounds, the most important being oleocanthal and oleuropein. Oleocanthal has anti-inflammatory properties so similar to ibuprofen that researchers initially thought they'd contaminated their samples. When you consume it daily for decades, these polyphenols accumulate in skin tissue and neutralize the reactive oxygen species that UV radiation generates in your epidermis. The free radicals that cause photoaging in most people are getting quenched before they can degrade collagen.
The diet stacks on top of that. Tomatoes are a staple across Greece, and lycopene, the red pigment, absorbs UV radiation directly. One study found that people eating 40 grams of tomato paste daily for 10 weeks became measurably more resistant to sunburn. Add omega-3s from fish, carotenoids from vegetables, and resveratrol from red wine, and you've built an internal photoprotection system that no SPF bottle replicates.
Researchers at Tel Aviv University studied Mediterranean populations and found melanoma rates were extremely low despite intense sun exposure. The diet was doing what people assumed only melanin could do. The antioxidant-rich group in their study had 50% fewer oxidation products in their blood after five to six hours of daily sun exposure over two weeks.
The man in this photo didn't survive the sun. He ate a diet for 80 years that turned his skin into something the sun couldn't easily break down. 24 liters of liquid armor per year, every year, since before sunscreen existed.

I see an alarming trend among many Indians who think like as attached below, blaming ourselves for atrocities committed on us by imperialists, so I have questions:
Are you guys OK with India now colonizing, say, some weaker African nations claiming they need "development?"
Or landing on the Sentinel Island saying the natives are uncivilized, they need religion, education, and civilization, and it's our territory anyway?
Or take over a peaceful small neighboring country, just because India is much more powerful and can do so?
And after that, are you OK with looting all their resources while killing them in millions to build India with great colleges and temples?
Will you send your children to such a college or pray in such a temple born from such blood and loot money?
I don't think so.
Because we have a civilization and culture that teaches us not to be such ruthless imperialist criminals. Unfortunately, apologizing for colonialism and atrocities on India has now become a trend these days.
Indians have been brainwashed into thinking in terms of power, weapons, technology differential etc blaming all of India's suffering and issues on India itself and Indians themselves.
This is what the imperialists do. Gas light us into believing we are the reason for they attacking us and subjugating us. They continue to do so, making us hate ourselves, after attacking us in sinister ways even today.
The other day I was explaining one young Indian how our companies are being intentionally targeted to prevent them becoming global giants, and the first retort I got was "they deserve so." I was so taken aback and sad.
They have infiltrated the minds of our young, for sure, to sabotage their own future and their own country. It's now that bad.
In the early 1700s, a tiny, cash-strapped theological school called the Collegiate School of Connecticut was on the verge of financial collapse. It desperately needed money to construct its very 1st permanent building in New Haven.
The school's trustees reached out to a wealthy London merchant named Elihu Yale. Yale had spent nearly 30 yrs working for the East India Company at Fort St. George in Madras (now Chennai) looting India & eventually rising to become the Governor-President of the settlement.
While in India, Elihu Yale amassed an immense personal fortune through private trading: specifically in Golconda diamonds, high-grade textiles & spices & by participating in the Indian Ocean slave trade. He was eventually ousted from his post by the East India Company for rampant illegal profiteering & corruption.
In 1718, responding to the school's plea for help, Elihu Yale sent a massive cargo shipment from London to Boston. The shipment did not contain cash. It contained:
- 9 large bundles of exotic Indian textiles (including fine muslins, calicos & silks from Madras).
- 417 books.
- A portrait of King George I.
The school sold the Indian textiles & goods in Boston for the staggering sum of £800, which at the time, was enough money to completely fund the construction of their brand-new wooden college building. In pure gratitude for this South Asian windfall, the trustees officially renamed the entire institution Yale College.
Yale University would literally not exist w/o India. Its very name, its 1st major building & its foundational survival were directly paid for by wealth extracted from India.

A press conference video is being circulated across media and social media platforms with an attempt to malign the image of the #IndianArmy.
It is reiterated that the individuals seen in the video, namely Chandu Chavan, Harendra Yadav and P Narender, were dismissed from service on grounds of indiscipline and unsoldierly conduct. The fourth individual, Shankar Singh Gujjar, is a deserter and disciplinary proceedings are undergoing against him in both military and civil courts.
These individuals are deliberately spreading fake, malicious and misleading narratives on social media to divert attention from their own misconduct and dismissal from service. Citizens are advised not to fall prey to such propaganda and to remain vigilant against misinformation. (1/2)

Today was the 4th consecutive day when the peak power demand (solar hours) reached a new all-time high.
At 1545 hours (21.5.2026), the peak power demand (solar hours) of 270.82 GW was successfully met.
#InfiniteIndia | The Sati narrative was often distorted during colonial rule to malign India and its civilization. In the Ramayana and Mahabharata, countless women were widowed, yet widow burning was not the norm. Ancient Vedic traditions allowed widows to live with dignity and remarry, but selective interpretations were used by colonial Christian missionaries to defame India’s social heritage.

Our Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl continues to make every Indian proud.
The successful effort to bring back our sacred heritage plates of the Chola era to India reflects his unwavering commitment to our civilisational roots.
The Nagai (Leiden) Copper Plates are among the most important surviving records of the Chola era, preserving a rare royal charter on 21 copper plates with the seal of Rajendra Chola I.
They record both Tamil and Sanskrit text, offering invaluable evidence of Chola ancestry, administration, and dynastic memory. They also reveal the Cholas’ maritime connections with Sriwijaya and the wider Indian Ocean world, including support for a Buddhist institution at Nagapattinam.
For Tamil Nadu, this is deeply emotional. These are not mere artifacts, but symbols of our rich Tamil culture, history, and spiritual legacy.
On behalf of the people of TN we thank our Hon PM for safeguarding and restoring our heritage for future generations.
