One year ago, out of curiosity, I signed up for @joinautopilot and deposited $10K into an account mimicking Nancy Pelosi’s stock trades. It’s up 47.33% in one year.
It’s been rainy/gross in New York today. I’ve been hoping it would end soon. But then I got into a lyft and the driver said “Rainy today. Very good for farmers. No farmers, no food. Rain very good!!” I like the way you look at the world sir.
Amphibious 'Super Scooper' airplanes from Quebec, Canada are picking up seawater from the Santa Monica Bay to drop on the Palisades Fire. Great vid from Las Vegas reporter @CristenDrummond.
@DallasAptGP Sold a car last year. Got quotes from Carvana and others. CarMax offered me the most ($1.4k more than Carvana). Total CarMax sales process took 40min from walking in the front door to leaving with a check.
Another fun fact about the Denver airport: the famous horse statue out front killed its creator.
During construction part of it fell and severed an artery in the creator’s leg leading to his death. The sculpture was completed posthumously and now looms as a striking—and eerie—landmark.
For a taste of what's coming, some of Elon's cost cutting moves at Twitter included:
💥 Massive Layoffs: Cut about 80% of staff. Engineers were told today to *print out* their last 30 to 60 days of code to determine who stayed.
🚫 Stopped Paying Some Bills: Refused to pay pre-acquisition vendor invoices.
🏢 Real Estate Reduction: Closed offices to lower rent expenses.
💻 Software Switch: Moved away from high-cost software like Salesforce.
Big news for NYC renters. Currently tenants have to pay listing brokers (who are hired and work for the owner) a broker’s fee of 15% of the annual rent. The FARE act, which gets a vote from NYC City Council this week, would move the responsibility of this fee to the landlord. The act appears poised to pass.
Just voted - my first time voting in NYC and didn't know what to expect. Zero line, and the extremely friendly poll workers gave a round of applause when a first time voter submitted their ballot!
I love this idea & am planning one:
A night where all of your friends make a presentation on what they do at work and answer questions.
I don't know much about what many of my friends do for a living.
