Ma'am @dabi_tina@DmJaisalmer kindly met our field team at #Jaisalmer today along with well meaning residents. Her office accepted our letter. Our request is to implement ABC in the district. We are hopeful the administration will intervene. @jaisalmersehoon@tarana2510@psemw
Better yet, look at the video of the arrest. The officers told the ladies they were trespassing on PUBLIC PROPERTY.
Then one officer lied to his supervisor saying the women (ages 85 & 60) nearly beat the officers’ ass*s”. You clearly see on video that never happened. The officer told his supervisor:
“ I’m glad nobody was recording. Because a bunch of police officers beating up on a couple of old ladies it was rough.”
In India too, our law permits us to feed street dogs and cats with the aim of making them friendly towards humans so that they can be caught for sterilising and vaccinating.
But other residents harass our volunteers & attack and harm street dogs and cats.
“No comment” is all that was said by the attorney representing the City of Wetumpka, Alabama after the city quietly told a judge they didn’t want to further pursue charges against two women who were feeding cats, but only after the city arrested charged prosecuted & punished those women because they were FEEDING CATS. The city tried to make an example out of these women to punish them for feeding neutering and then returning the cats to their nautical habitat. That is part of a public service program that happens nationally called TNR. By the way, the women were feeding cats on public property. Not private. The city told the women to stop. The women continued to feed cats. Then police threatened them with trespassing charges if they didn’t stop. There is no law against feeding cats in the city of Wetumpka. But in Wetumpka feeding cats became a crime for which these two elderly women were dragged before a judge (That the city hired and who prayed with the prosecutor and the witnesses before finding the women guilty) and convicted in city court. The women appealed. They wanted jury trial. Apparently the city didn’t think they’d win, because as the case was approaching trial, the city decided to cut and run. No apology to the women. No statement as to why they decided to drop everything. Just “no comment, thank you” from the city attorney when I asked why the city is bowing out.
