I’m thrilled to announce that my book “Let ‘Em Howl” launches tomorrow. I draw from my experience to share the best lessons I learned in the political backrooms - ones that sustained me in the brightest & darkest hours of my political career. #onpoli 1/5
@Megannety@StephenBlais@MikeSchreiner I’m not squabbling, I am taking a stand. Blais’ motion says Schreiner would have been acceptable on Dec. 31/22 but 2 months later, he’s “an outsider”. And it is a slippery slope - will this motion apply to candidates? Atrophy happens when we close our doors.
🧵 Just what does MPP @StephenBlais think Liberals need to be saved from - themselves? To run for leader, @MikeSchreiner would have crossed the floor and become a Liberal. He then would have campaigned for that job, as a Liberal.
Liberal MPP @StephenBlais took a ‘direct shot’ at Green Leader Mike Schreiner with special motion for Liberal leadership https://t.co/7mzrhNIhxm via @torontostar#onpoli
The motion to block Schreiner from being a candidate is a tribal, hyper-partisan reaction to “outsiders”. It is un-Liberal. And in the long run, that is far more dangerous to @OntLiberal than a Schreiner candidacy ever could have been. #olp
Liberals have long embraced opening up our Party to new people. Many so-called “instant Liberals” join during leadership campaigns & elections. If they are welcomed, they stay. And that’s for the better of any party.
Thanks for giving it some thought @MikeSchreiner, that's all we could ask. I really hope that Ontario parties can find creative ways to collaborate and co-create a more sustainable future for Ontario ♥️💚🧡
I appreciate this perspective from @spaikin outlining why, despite the unusual circumstances and “howls of outage” from some, I have no regrets encouraging @MikeSchreiner to run for @OntLiberal leader. Worth a read.
I have been following @EScrimshaw throughout the Ontario election & find his insights helpful. But I feel the need to respond to this one as I believe I’m the referenced “campaign director” in the 2016 Scarborough Rouge River by election. 🧵 1/8
On the day of the Ontario debate, let me tell my favourite behind the scenes election story of all time, and my go to when people talk about how "local campaigns" make the difference
(A short thread): 1/x
We had every reason to be confident & the data I shared was real. But the outcome is why I never “count my chickens before they are hatched”particularly in a by-election. There were a lot of lessons learned in Scarborough that day. 7/8
I may have run national & provincial campaigns but nothing beats talking to neighbours at their doors. It was an honour to join Lyn McLeod & Liz Sandals & #Guelph@OntLiberal candidate @RaechelleDev, who is herself a powerhouse! #Raechelle4Guelph
