Elisha and Elijah were introduced to pacifier while at the NICU which they eventually got used to and without it in their mouths, they won’t sleep.
But recently, one of the doctors in our church told us that we must wean them from it because it will affect their dentals later.
Therefore, my wife and I decided to take it from them. But we couldn’t because we couldn’t bear them crying for hours and not sleep.
So a few days again, we took them for their dental appointment and the dentist told us the same thing our doctor friend told us that it’s time to take the pacifiers away to prevent damages to them later on.
At last we weighed the decision and we decided that we will have to close our eyes and watch them go through that momentary pain of losing what they want to prevent them from harm in the future.
The decision was simple, it will be uncomfortable for them not to have what they wanted but it’s for their good.
Of course they will cry and cry but we will ignore their cries not because we don’t love them but because we want the best for them.
Therefore we took the step of permanently taking the pacifier from them.
It has been very stressful for both of us because we had to just ignore their cries and for the most part, we simply cannot sleep because one of them cries every time he remembers it and even wakes up in the middle of the night for it but the consolation is that it’s for their own good.
Why am I telling you this story?
Because our Heavenly Father sometimes says no to us and sometimes look away when his children are crying/weeping because they want something He will rather not give them.
Of course when God says no, it is out of his love for his children and most often than none, it is because He will rather see them cry now than regret later.
The momentary pain is nothing compared to what is coming which is why sometimes God appeared to ignore the tears of his children.
The fact that we are limited as humans and we don’t have an idea of what is ahead should always give us reason to trust God even when He says no to our requests.
There must never be a time that we doubt the love of God even in our pains because He is our father who knows what is best for us, He understands what we are going through but He has the knowledge of our end from the beginning.
Does God want His children to suffer or be in pain? Absolutely No! But He will save His children that He loves by denying them of anything they want now that will eventually destroy them or harm them in the future!
That’s why He is our Heavenly Father and we should be grateful that we have such a Father who cares so deeply about us to send His son to die for us and to guide us in the path to go.
I hope you understand?
